Urgent! Caregivers, staff, and allies in Indiana - we need your help! Indiana Medicaid is proposing changes to ABA therapy coverage that will significantly impact those who receive autism services in Indiana. The changes include caps of 30 hours of ABA therapy per week for a maximum of 3 years, as well as other credentialing and operational changes that would drastically limit patient access to care. As one of our most vulnerable populations, we feel that patients should access care based on their level of need and not arbitrary limits that hurt patients and families. Several bills have been filed to halt these severe changes and all patients within the state of Indiana need your help! We urge families to reach out to their legislators to share how ABA has impacted your child and the negative effects of imposing such extreme limits. To find your legislators use this link: https://lnkd.in/g7-jsWjA and then click their “Contact my Office” button to make your voice heard. https://lnkd.in/g7-jsWjA

We are so excited to announce that LittleStar has received Autism Commission on Quality (ACQ) accreditation across all therapy locations! ⭐️ ACQ accreditation demonstrates LittleStar’s commitment to patient care through our investment in quality ABA therapy and development and maintenance of rigorous standards, highlighting our organization as a leader in the field. Only 3 providers in Indiana, and 16 nationwide have received this honor. In 2002, LittleStar was the first ABA center in the state of Indiana and has grown as a proud non-profit, serving patients across the lifespan and through a variety of service options such as speech, diagnostic and counseling services, and joint commission accredited waiver services. LittleStar is consistently on the forefront of new ideas and practices in the field, always looking for ways to better serve our patients. We want to thank the LittleStar staff and patients who all played a role in achieving this milestone. We are thrilled to receive this accreditation and are proud of our investment in quality ABA therapy services! #realcare #realprogress

Congratulations to our very own Kristin Hustyi and Jesse Logue for their recent publication “Skill-based treatment for challenging behavior in autism spectrum disorder: A scoping review of treatment characteristics and outcomes” in Research on Autism Spectrum Disorders. This research provides a summary and critique of the current state of skill-based treatment (SBT) and highlights the varied research scope at LittleStar. We are passionate about research and furthering the application of ABA therapy for patients and the field alike! See link to the article below https://lnkd.in/ef_gg2vc

As 2024 is winding down, we hope you have had a great year and specifically a wonderful holiday season. If you are still looking for an opportunity to invest through a year-end gift to a mission driven organization that makes incredible impact, please consider LittleStar. Your support makes stories like the one below come to reality year after year. "When our son, Kylan, received the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, we turned to Little Star for his Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment. They went above and beyond to construct an individualized treatment plan to focus on problem behaviors, life skills, and social/emotional skills. As a family, we appreciated the flexibility of their team. His goals were varied and updated frequently in order to address emerging behaviors and help him acquire new skills. They were willing to work with us both at home and in the clinic, depending on his current needs. At one point, there was a video game that Kylan loved to play. She used their time playing this video game to work on communication goals and goals related to patience. The best part was Kylan was able to achieve new milestones all while engaging in an activity that he preferred. During this time, Kylan also worked very hard on interacting with his peers. To help him accomplish his goals, Little Star matched him with an analyst who could help him learn skills related to baseball. His analyst supported him through his entire season on the team and incorporated his experiences on the team into his goals so we could address areas where Kylan needed specific attention. Kylan’s time with Little Star was impactful for both him and our family. We will forever be grateful for the personal and compassionate care the team at Little Star extended." Update: We are at $5,130 for the day so far and are trying to get to our goal of $6,000, thank you to everyone who has donated. "The impact that LittleStar has had on our lives cannot be described in a short summary, because it is on-going. The Center and those who work there have become an extension of our family. The love and understanding they have shown and continue to show to Avery and our family is beyond any expectation we have had. As we navigate Autism and Adulthood, we continue to seek guidance from those at Little Star as Autism doesn't "end" with traditional schooling. Acceptance and Empathy, something so meaningful for those who live with differences, and something found at LittleStar...thank you LittleStar for being the Blessing for so many!" -The Campbell Family On this #GivingTuesday help #LittleStar provide resources to patients for their ongoing therapy needs while giving a little hope to families across Indiana.
