This week, the MBTA and Keolis officially began the procurement to electrify the Fairmount Line, putting out a request for proposals for a battery-train manufacturer. The new trains will provide faster, quieter, more reliable service with notably less air pollution, to the environmental justice communities served by the line. At Keolis, we are excited to have achieved this important milestone toward a greener, more sustainable future for the communities we serve. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ec_i2zwk

January is Mentoring Month in Massachusetts, and at Keolis, student interns and mentees are an important and valued part of our workplace. One example is our partnership with the Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School in Methuen, helping to provide our next generation of leaders with professional work experience and important skills for their future careers. Today, we were honored to join the school in celebrating the official proclamation they received from the Governor’s Office in recognition of their corporate work study program. #MentoringMonth

All aboard the North Pole Express! Over the weekend, Keolis had the pleasure of welcoming over 1,000 children and families from Greater Boston-area nonprofit organizations onboard this annual magical train ride to the North Pole! Wearing pajamas and singing holiday songs, the children and families enjoyed a full afternoon of free holiday activities sponsored by Keolis, in partnership with the MBTA. Thank you to all of the community and transportation leaders who joined us for this festive celebration, and to all of the KCS and MBTA employees who made this holiday tradition possible!

This autumn, in partnership with the MBTA and Laser Precision Solutions, we piloted a new LaserTrain on the north side of the Commuter Rail network to clean the tracks during peak “slippery rail” season. Slippery rail is a condition that occurs when falling leaves, crushed under train wheels, create a slick film on the tracks that then requires more time for trains to accelerate or slow down due to the loss of friction. The LaserTrain helps address slippery rail conditions at speeds up to 60 mph, and it ran in place of the traditional water jet wash train that would normally operate on the north side of the network. Deploying this technology results in safer, faster, and more reliable service for passengers. Check out this video to learn more about the new LaserTrain! #LPS #LaserTrain https://lnkd.in/emFekQHV

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the 3rd Annual Diversity in Procurement Fair at the DCU Center in Worcester today! The fair connected over 60+ minority and women-owned businesses with potential opportunities for work with Keolis and other local businesses that participated. Worcester City Manager Eric D. Batista, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce President Timothy Murray, and our KCS CEO Abdellah Chajai stopped by to give their remarks and connect with exhibitors while at the fair. We are proud of our commitment to the Supplier Diversity Program and grateful to our partners at MassDOT Office of Diversity and Civil Rights, the MBTA, and the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (GNEMSDC). Together, this fair allows us to spotlight and connect diverse suppliers with organizations who are also committed to strengthening local economies and fostering inclusive, ethical business practices.

Last Friday, KCS volunteered at the New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV), where we served dinner and showed our appreciation to the incredible veterans in our community! Each year, the NECHV serves over 100,000 meals, touching the lives of countless veterans. KCS extends our deepest gratitude to those who have served our nation – today and everyday.
