Welcome to Day 9 of our IT Labs Advent Calendar! Today, for our final unboxing, we are sharing a few thoughts from our CEO Branislav Gjorcevski: As we near the end of 2024, we can more accurately underline some of the challenges and needs that we have seen in the mid-market. In 2024, we spoke with many technology leaders at different organizations, both in meetings and on our podcast, CTO Confessions. Technology Leaders, such as CTOs and VPs of Engineering, have all expressed their continuous excitement about using AI. They are geeks, after all. But from our perspective, most of those organizations fall into two separate categories: SaaS organizations and Tech-powered organizations (everyone else). For most of the SaaS organizations, it's almost a no-brainer. - They want to play with AI themselves, a lot! - They would like to have as many AI-powered features for their customers as possible. - They understand the risks and they are not afraid to tackle them. What they need help with is data, data, data - They all need accurate, timely, and enough volume of data. - They also need help with data architecture, data lakes, pipelines, and any other part of the data infrastructure that would get them to accuracy. - This will also lead to a lot of data tool optimization and consolidation. - They need governance. Very good data governance. - Bodies, smart data bodies. People that are able to execute on their AI agenda, starting with the data. For a lot of them 2025 will be the year when they finally fix their data infrastructure for the first time, so they can play with AI like there is no tomorrow. For the rest of the organizations that are non-SaaS but yet technology plays a big role in their business, their challenges are the 'Copilot conundrum': - "We have Copilot, why do we need this now?" - "Do we use Copilot? We paid an arm and a leg for it, per head!" - "Can we get someone to help us use Copilot more?" They do have a big desire to use AI, but they don't know where to start, which is the opportunity for the consulting groups: - "Where do we start, what do we tackle first?" - "We don't have good data for this." - "We did a good pilot but how do we figure out the adoption." - Politics, politics, politics. Management boards will still be pressuring the tech teams to deliver AI, but they must figure out what and how. The more agile ones will have more built, but many will still struggle. The 2025 goal for these technology leaders is very much AI/data education for their management teams. They have to educate their executives on the pros and cons of AI, how to go about using it, its safety, accuracy, and cost, all while dodging the impact of the 'Copilot conundrum'.
