Cows have the nickname grass puppies for a reason! Like dogs, cows: Play with toys Share emotion through sound Show love and affection through grooming 💕 And they even have best friends! 🐮🐶 There’s no denying that cows are not so different from the dogs we share our homes with and call our companions and best friends. 🫶🏻

Before Ollie came to Farm Sanctuary, she lived in the mountains with her former guardian and two dogs, where she was fed (and loved) Cinnamon Toast Crunch! Unfortunately, Ollie was injured when one of the dogs bit off her nose, and her guardian couldn’t afford care, so she was surrendered to us. Despite Ollie's challenges, her love for life shines through, and we're so grateful to call her our friend. 💚

We can't believe it's been a year since we welcomed Joe Boo to his forever home with us! Two years ago, a helpless Joe Boo was found standing on a city street. He was lethargic, dehydrated, neglected, and clearly in need of help. After receiving initial care, Joe Boo's rescuer discovered a wound under his wings when she saw maggots crawling on the floor around him. She ultimately decided Joe Boo needed more help than previously thought, so she reached out to us. Within a week’s time at sanctuary, this handsome rooster was getting healthier, and his lesions were nearly healed. He underwent wing surgery and then began his road to recovery! Over the past year, Joe's adjusted well to sanctuary life. Here, he's found friendship and his story of resilience against all odds inspires everyone who meets him. Photos 1: Stephanie Rose

For farm animals, sanctuary is the promise of everlasting love. 💕 This Valentine's Day, skip the flowers and send someone special (you included!) the heartfelt gift of a symbolic farm animal adoption. Animal agriculture is a lonely place — each individual is denied their family and a place that feels like home. For many animals we rescue, Farm Sanctuary is the first place they feel kindness and love. This Valentine’s Day, remember that your love rescues! By giving a one-time gift now, you help us keep the lifelong promise of sanctuary to rescued animals like Jenny, Samson, Jeanne, Margaretta, Freddy, and Cali. Meet our lovable and “adoptable” rescued animals: https://bit.ly/3Eo4ZHF

Since early 2022, over 130 million farmed birds have died or been culled in the U.S. due to bird flu on poultry farms, and the devastating effects of this pathogen have not stopped there. Sadly, a person in Louisiana has now died of bird flu, too—after the virus most likely mutated post-infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), possibly leading to more severe illness. The CDC confirmed 66 human cases in the U.S. in 2024. On January 10 of this year, the agency confirmed the second case of an infected U.S. child with unknown exposure to the virus. Now the CDC has just urged the testing of everyone hospitalized with influenza to determine whether patients have bird flu or a seasonal flu. Farm Sanctuary has long warned of the need to take on factory farming’s reckless disregard for public health regarding bird flu. Keep reading below: https://bit.ly/40QnSvQ
