Iron is the critical constraint for decarbonizing steelmaking. That’s why we're dedicated to making clean iron in the most responsible and resourceful way. Breakthrough Energy shares how Electra and others are working on pathways to support #netzerosteel.
🏗️ Steel is foundational to our modern world, but it’s also a heavy contributor to climate change — responsible for nearly 10% of global carbon emissions. With demand for steel projected to continue growing, the path to net-zero isn’t simple, but promising solutions exist. Innovations like hydrogen-based reduction, electrochemical processes, and carbon capture are emerging. But these solutions need scale, investment, and supportive policies to compete with today’s low-cost production methods. When stakeholders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs work together, we can accelerate and scale solutions for the greatest impact. Thank you SEEC Institute Institute for a day of conversation on advancing existing and emerging solutions to reduce emissions and ensure a low carbon, sustainable, high growth economy. Kellyn Blossom joined Rep. Don Beyer, Kathleen (Katie) McGinty of Johnson Controls, Sasha Stashwick of Antora Energy and Christina Angelides of Elemental Impact to discuss how startups and multinationals are unlocking innovation to meet the challenges of the clean economy at the SEEC Institute's Solutions Summit.
