Skidmore College's new McCaffery-Wagman Tennis & Wellness Center intentionally brings together the college's recreational and fitness areas, along with health and wellness resources, within a single complex. Using an integrative design-build approach, Consigli and CannonDesign worked closely to streamline collaboration and more efficiently deliver a sustainable space that supported Skidmore's holistic vision for enhanced student services on campus. Project Executive Michael Wood, Principal - Education Practice Leader Moray Newton and Assistant Vice President of Facilities and Planning Daniel Rodecker joined the Albany Business Review to highlight the project and share how design-build partnerships can be a valuable tool for higher education clients like Skidmore in ensuring long-term campus and community goals are fully achieved. Along the Charles River, a special gantry crane system is helping the Consigli team perform work on the Museum of Science's Blue Wing Expansion, including structural roof demolition for the future Public Science Common. Through its repetitive motion, this innovative solution enhances safety and minimizes disruption for the Museum and its visitors, allowing the adjacent exhibits and spaces to stay open and operational while construction progresses. Hear from Senior Project Manager Elizabeth Clarkin as she walks you through the beam removal process, and how the project team has been able to navigate the unique challenges associated with work on an active, waterfront jobsite. #WomeninConstruction #WICWeek #GenuineBuilders William Rawn Associates, Architects, Inc.

As colleges and universities pursue ambitious decarbonization plans, Consigli with its energy division, Arch Energy, brings the experience necessary to navigate the process and help plan and deliver innovative, low-carbon infrastructure solutions. At the University of New Hampshire, rather than installing a new, more traditional chiller plant to meet increased cooling needs, UNH instead took a significant step toward achieving its sustainability goals highlighted in their Climate Action Plan—WildCAP—through the construction of a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Tank. Arch Energy collaborated with UNH and our Design-Build partners to analyze TES tank design and construction options and determine not only the most effective way to build the tank, but what method would be most beneficial for the campus. Equivalent to roughly a 15,000-kWh battery, UNH’s new TES tank is a representation of the University’s commitment to carbon neutrality while serving as a model for other higher education institutions committed to environmentally conscious operations. Consigli's self-perform team recently topped off and completed the #masstimber installation of Smith College's first heavy timber project, Kathleen McCartney Hall. Designed with sustainability at its core, this new building will help achieve Smith's carbon neutrality goals and support efforts to create a greener, more energy-efficient, campus. Targeting LEED Gold certification, Kathleen McCartney Hall will be zero energy ready, incorporating innovative sustainability features such as a living roof and geothermal energy systems. Once complete, the future hub for career development and leadership training will be one of the most energy efficient spaces on the Smith College campus. #GenuineBuilders TenBerke Thornton Tomasetti chuck choi Architectural Photography
