Career Blazers Nonprofit Search has released its first national report focusing exclusively on talent issues in smaller nonprofit organizations. The 2025 report, Small Nonprofits, Big Impact | Talent Challenges and Opportunities, presents current compensation data for key roles within smaller organizations, identifies major hiring and retention trends, and examines the impact of social and governmental challenges on smaller nonprofits. Small nonprofits account for over 90% of nonprofit organizations in America. “They are staffed by leaders, program managers, and volunteers with deep knowledge of and commitment to their communities,” said Barbara Gebhardt, CEO of Career Blazers Nonprofit Search. “In smaller nonprofits, employees often wear multiple hats, which can be both a strength and a challenge. This reality shapes recruiting, hiring, and retention,” says Gebhardt. Drawing upon 75 years of experience, Career Blazers’ report combines national research, experiential insights, and resources to help nonprofits succeed. The report findings are based on survey responses from nonprofits with two million dollars or less in their annual budget. Survey findings highlight that recruitment and hiring challenges differ significantly between smaller and larger organizations. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/g5mVtvHf

**What the Revised Overtime Exemption Threshold Means for Nonprofits** A Texas federal court has reversed the U.S. Department of Labor’s increase in the overtime exemption salary threshold that went into effect July 1, 2024. The ruling reduces the threshold to qualify for overtime exemption back to its original 2019 level of $684 per week or $35,568 per year, halting the planned threshold increases set for January 1, 2025. This may sound like good news for nonprofits who see the ruling as a budget reprieve given the potential to reduce their compensation overhead in 2025. However, it also effectively means a pay cut for employees who fell within the new higher threshold and will now be exempt from overtime pay. This can potentially impact employee retention, especially considering the stiff competition for talent from for-profit organizations. Nonprofit organizations should exercise caution in reducing hours for employees who fall back into the gap. *5 tips to consider before changing compensation policy due to the ruling* https://lnkd.in/gfqhVcAf #overtimerule #nonprofitpay #nonprofitleaders #overtimepaythreshold #HR

**How Salary Reports Help Nonprofits Improve 2025 Recruiting Strategies** Competitive financial compensation and benefits make a huge difference in the difficulty level nonprofits experience in recruiting. The good news is that recent data from the 2025 Nonprofit Compensation & Benchmarking Report shows a positive trend toward easier and more stable hiring processes since organizations have adjusted salaries and focused on non-salary perks to become more competitive. A significant reduction in the difficulty level in recruiting is a promising sign for the job market and organizations looking to fill positions with qualified candidates. Here are 5 tips for recruiting - and winning - new talent for 2025. https://ow.ly/SFVO50U8j33 #nonprofit #nonprofitpay #nonprofitjobs #salaries #nonprofitrecruiting #nonprofitretention
