About us

Committed to entertaining and uniting the city of Atlanta since 1968, the Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena, under the leadership of Principal Owners Tony Ressler and Jami Gertz, continue to build bridges through basketball by following its True to Atlanta mantra. On the court, the Hawks’ exciting young core is led by three-time All-Star point guard Trae Young. Off the court, the Hawks organization focuses on positively impacting the lives of Atlantans through providing access to youth basketball, fighting food insecurity, and the transformation of State Farm Arena into Georgia’s largest-ever voting precinct for the 2020 elections. The Hawks family also includes the College Park Skyhawks (NBA G League). • Our organization believes that community, inclusion and growth are key to creating a balanced workforce. Through our 8 Employee Resource Groups, we aim to provide team members with the opportunity to connect about their shared interests, support and champion each other and offer professional development. Leading an ERG offers team members an invaluable professional development experience, allowing them to advance their career goals, explore new challenges, and strengthen both new or existing skills, in a role that provides support to our organization-wide community. Our ERG Leads recently participated in a series of impactful professional development workshops designed to enhance their leadership skills and maximize their contributions including: • Budget Maximization: A session led by our very own Lester Jones, SVP, Financial Planning and Analysis, focused on teaching our ERG Leads effective budget management strategies to optimize resources and achieve their goals. • How to be an Effective ERG Lead: A collaborative group exercise facilitated by Amanda Battle, Manager, Belonging & Internal Communications, where Leads exchanged tips and best practices on boosting member engagement, aligning programing with organizational goals, and how to supporting one another in fostering a strong ERG culture. • Connecting with ERG Leaders: This fireside chat with Kiara Lane and Andraes Hubbard, Black Employee Network Leads at the Coca-Cola Company, provided guidance on navigating challenges in hybrid work environments, aligning leadership experiences with professional goals, and using storytelling as a powerful tool to engage employees and serve as a valuable talent resource for the company. Thank you to all of our workshop and session facilitators for uplifting and empowering our ERG leads!

  • One of the most underrated qualities of leadership is understanding that self-care must be an essential part of our daily routine, especially as we support, build and scale businesses. Recently, we hosted our Wholistic Health program day for our She Leads Women’s Empowerment Program. Our She Leaders, mentors and special guests participated in a series of workshops designed to help them create more balanced and meaningful personal and professional lives. This extraordinary day included a guided meditation and sound bath session facilitated by Oyah Kheperu, stress and anxiety management strategies with Faith Cade, M.Ed., and Samantha Edu, restorative self-care practices by Jazmyn Williams and a calming yoga session with our very own Narcis Alikhani. Our She Leaders left feeling rejuvenated, empowered, and equipped to navigate and transform demanding spaces with a reminder to, ‘leave the blank spaces unfilled’ when managing demanding tasks. We are so grateful for our phenomenal speakers who created a space of calm, intentionality and growth. We would also like to extend gratitude to Trinket TL, CoFounder of MoreLyfe Juice Co., for providing participants with a nutritious lunch and to The Supermarket for hosting us.

  • National Girls & Women in Sports Day is a national holiday that provide an opportunity to gather and celebrate the women who continue to rise and thrive within the sports industry. We marked this special day by curating a full day of events, inviting sports leagues, teams and collegiate athletic directors to join us in a shared celebration. During the programming, we aimed to empower and uplift women in sports, while recognizing those who stand in solidarity as allies. The program day included activities for attendees to get to know each other and share individual narratives while bonding over the love of working in the sports industry. There was a keynote speech delivered by our very own Alexis Roe, VP, DEI Impact and Strategic Initiatives, that used the metaphor of air and turbulence to illustrate the essential yet often overlooked strength and resilience of women in sports and leadership. The speech challenged the audience to embrace obstacles as signs of progress and inspires them to break through barriers to claim their rightful space both on and off the court. The program also lifted the various voices of women in sports through dynamic conversations like our Power Play Panel. During this panel, we heard from the diverse and inimitable journeys of Shamea Morton, our In-game Host, Lauren Koontz, President & CEO at YMCA Of Metro Atlanta, Tabitha Turner-Wilkins, our Sideline Reporter, and our very own Janice F. Koon, Senior Vice President of G League Operations and 2K Operations. From creating equitable spaces for women in the workplace, providing empowerment, resources, and tools for current and aspiring moms to adjust and gain support in the demand of the sports and entertainment industry, to navigating career growth and pivots, our panelists provided inspiration and tools for success through their unique and vulnerable stories. Next, our Connections & Conversations networking activity led by Rachael Starr, our Empower Her ERG lead, highlighted the power of networking and continued our journey to build an ecosystem of support and elevation. Before concluding our celebration, attendees took a moment to reflect, recognize their own strengths and find points of connection during a Circle of Strength exercise led by Alexis Roe and our Women of Color ERG co-lead, Kim R.. This day wouldn’t have been complete without our amazing MC, Desiree Nathanson, and team Camye Mackey and Amanda Battle leading sessions that inspired all women in sports to dream big, forge their path and continue toward greatness! To our attendees, we hope that you enjoyed your special note of encouragement! #HappyNGWSD #NGWSD

We are thrilled to announce that we have extended our sustainability-focused partnership with Novelis. Since 2021, with Novelis, a world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, we have developed an industry-leading and award-winning partnership. Our downtown venue and Novelis continue to leverage the power of live sports and entertainment to spread awareness about the importance of recycling and sustainability. “We are thrilled to extend and enhance our sustainability partnership with Novelis,” said our very own President of Business Enterprise and Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Saltzman. “Novelis has continued to help us reach new milestones in recycling and sustainability and as we have continued to be a leader in the sports and live entertainment industry.” To commemorate the extension of our partnership, together we hosted an after-school recycling event with students from David T. Howard School. Our very own Head of Sustainability Sofi Emma Armenakian led a presentation on recycling and shared which items go in the various bins provided at the arena. The goal of the event was to teach the students about the importance of recycling, an initiative that we prioritize. “We’re proud to extend our partnership with the Hawks and State Farm Arena, continuing to drive meaningful change in sustainability,” said Greg S. Senior Vice President, Global Beverage Packaging at Novelis. “Through events like today, we inspire the next generation to embrace recycling and help build a more sustainable future for Atlanta and beyond.” “Today’s event with Novelis was incredible as we continue to inspire the next generation of Atlantans to practice sustainability,” said Sofi Emma Armenakian. “From the work that we do behind the scenes after every single event to the impact we make in the community together, Novelis continues to be instrumental in helping us reach our sustainability goals.” Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/e3693Ei9
