The Catholic Bishops of Washington released this statement on the Feast of the Holy Family: "During this time of uncertainty and fear, we stand with our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters. May all our brothers and sisters on the margins, especially migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, know that our parishes are open for prayer, comfort and solace. May each of us embrace the Gospel teaching and Pope Francis’ call to recognize the dignity of others as we welcome the stranger."

On World Day Against the Death Penalty (Oct. 10), the Archdiocese of Seattle's Criminal Justice Ministry was a sponsor for the 15th anniversary celebration of the Catholic Mobilizing Network. The event brought together faithful, justice-oriented people from all across the country for a night of collective envisioning of the future. The CMN works to end the death penalty nationally and promote restorative justice. Pictured below are board members of the Catholic Mobilizing Network (CMN) with Cardinal Pierre at the Vatican embassy in Washington D.C. From left to right: Krisanne Vaillancourt Murphy (Executive Director), Bill O’Keefe, Sister Rita Ann Teichman, Ralph McCloud, Cardinal Cristophe Pierre (Apostolic Nuncio to the United States), Joe Cotton (Archdiocese of Seattle Executive Director for the Office of the Vicar General), Sharon Burns, and Greg Erlandson.
