🌞 We are looking for summer interns in our Pittsburgh and Arlington offices. Come have a fantastic experience interning with AE Works, but don't just take our word for it - check out what Anthony had to say about his experience last summer. 👇 ➡️ Arlington Internships: https://lnkd.in/eSjgW4MG ➡️ Pittsburgh Internships: https://lnkd.in/eahUh3i7 #internship #pittsburgh #arlington #architecture #engineering #MEP #summerinternship
As my internship at AE Works Ltd. comes to an end, I am excited to reflect on the invaluable experiences and skills I have gained over the past few months. This internship has significantly contributed to my growth in the engineering industry. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work with both the Low Voltage and Mechanical Engineering Teams. I completed a course on Autodesk Revit MEP, the BIM software used by the firm, and subsequently applied my skills to various projects. This hands-on experience with Revit has been a crucial addition to my skill set. Additionally, I became proficient in Bluebeam Revu, a software for engineering drawing markups and collaboration. One of my main responsibilities was updating engineering drawings in Revit based on red lines, which enhanced my technical abilities. A highlight of my internship was participating in site visits and surveys. I joined the Mechanical Team on two surveys to evaluate the condition of mechanical HVAC systems and determine their outlook. I also assisted the Low Voltage Team on three site visits, where we assessed telecommunication rooms, surveyed low voltage devices, and created corresponding drawings. We then evaluated client needs and integrated these devices into our building plans. Through participating in project meetings and the creation of engineering plans, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the collaborative nature of engineering projects. I also had the opportunity to attend several company bonding and networking events, including a company history tour of Pittsburgh, led by Michael A. Cherock, PE and Larry Payne, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. We visited several locations to learn about the history of Architectural Engineering in Pittsburgh and AE Works significant growth throughout the city. To conclude my internship, I partnered with the other eight interns to create and present a final “Key Learnings and Takeaways” presentation to the company. We shared our internship experiences and feedback, offering insights for the future. Overall, my first internship was a successful and enriching experience. I am grateful to everyone at AE Works Ltd. for these amazing opportunities this summer to grow my career in the engineering industry.
