“Hey, Blacktooth,” Justin the bull said over an intercom.
“This is Blacktooth.” Blacktooth said through a headset back at the base.
“Yeah, we’ve got a real treat for you here at the lab.”
“A real treat, huh?” Blacktooth said.
“yep, this guy’s REAL big.”
“I’m looking forward to it.” Blacktooth said, then took the headset off, setting it down on a table.
Justin strapped his intercom radio to his waist and put his hands on his hips, marveling.
Before the special Four animals Blacktooth had made into a team stood a large tube. Inside of it, floating in water and covered in tubes, was a REALLY big Clydesdale horse. The room they stood in was white and unoccupied. One of the many cells that had only one occupant. The humans normally looking over this creature were lying bound and unconscious outside.
He was all grey, was suspended in a standing position, and had dark grey speckles all over. His dark grey hair was long.
Then his eyes flashed open. The Four took a step back. They were only about half as tall as the horse before them. His eyes rolled into place, large blue eyes. Upon seeing the four furries stand before him, and not the regular humans, his eyebrows rose.
“Wuuuhh ahhh uuuhhh?” The horse asked.
The Four looked at each other, then at the horse. Zata cleared his throat. “Could you mind repeating that, noble horse?”
The horse pointed to something at the bottom of the tank. Barnabas flew over to the control pad and looked it over. “Ah!” he proclaimed perkily. “There’s a translation switch here.” He clicked it on with his clawed foot.
They could hear speaking now, but it sounded distant. Zata looked around, then found a pair of headphones. He put it to his ear, not exactly sure how to operate them, then hear the horse say, “-who are you?”
Zata looked up at the monstrous Macro horse. “I am Zata,” he said, putting a hand on his chest, then gestured to the little bird, “Barnabus,” the little bird bowed, “Justin,” the bull just stared, “and Sethenson.” the lab flicked his tongue.
“We’re a strike team sent by a black panther named Blacktooth to save the furries who’ve been kept here. We need all the help we can get.”
The group waited anxiously for the large horse’s reply. Finally it spoke. “Do you have any food?”
The question threw the group off. The horse explained. “The scientists come and only give me enough food to survive. My strength is not enough to break free.”
“This place is swept clear of video surveillance.” Justin said proudly, “no one knows we’re in here, but we have to go quickly.”
The horse nodded. “Then help me out of here.”
“I think I may be able to aid in that.” Barnabus said as he took flight. Running quickly along the glass, he sliced it with his feathers multiple places, then perched on Zata’s shoulder.
Water started to run out.
A couple security guards started to wonder as to why there was water out in the hall. Following the puddle, they soon found a couple scientists gagged and unconscious outside a cell door. Quickly rousing them and untying them, they inquired what happened. The scientists had apparently been knocked out before they saw who hit them, so they could provide no information.
The guards turned towards the door with stony expressions. Kicking at the door, they were met with a flood of water that swept everyone down the hall. Once the water leveled out, the two guards retrieved their guns and told the scientists to run. Running quickly towards the door, the guards were met with a loud roar. The horse stood there, his nostrils flaring.
His large hand picked the guards up, who were now screaming and trying to operate their guns. The guns were crushed in the hand and useless, so the guards looked in pure mortification at the face that glared at them. Then the horse tipped his head back and opened his mouth.
“Don’t eat them!” Zata yelled, holding a hand up.
“What? I’m hungry!” the horse said, but instead threw the men towards the nearest wall, where they crumbled and lay still.
In a matter of minutes, the group had freed almost a whole horde of furries, thanks to the horse. Though he was weak by his own standards, he could withstand gunfire considerably, and had a lot of punch to offer.
Soon the laboratory lay in a smoking heap as a wave of animals exited, the horse towering over all of them. Out in the woods, the four men Blacktooth had taken captive rode ahead in their pickup, leading the animals to their sanctuary. The humans had made a deal with Blacktooth. Upon staying with the furs for about three days, the humans realized as Barbra had that they weren’t as bad as they seemed. From there, they asked Blacktooth if they could help in their final mission. Blacktooth obliged, loading their pickup with food and water, and telling them to wait in the woods, guns at the ready, in case they needed backup.
The humans happily obliged, and as they rode on, passed food and water to needy furries as they trekked down the road. Upon reaching the sanctuary, Blacktooth and Stross met the small army, as did the emergency medical team. A loud shout went up among the group as they came to realize how free they were. For Blacktooth, though, he knew this was only one of many human slave labs. And it would be his duty to free them all.
But, for the moment, he allowed himself to bask in the glory of the victory before them. As he welcomed his Four back, he took note of the large Clydesdale trekking behind them. “Here’s your present, Blacktooth.” Justin said with a wink. Blacktooth nodded.
The Clydesdale bent down on one knee and bowed his massive head. “I am indebted to you, sir.” The horse said. Stross smiled. She liked this horse, and petted him on the head. The horse looked up and smiled.
“Rise.” Blacktooth said, and the horse stayed knelt, but his head was fully raised.
“What’s your name, sir?” Blacktooth asked the large horse.
The horse smiled. “I’m Specks, pleased to meet you.”

“This is Specks, the horse. I’m sitting here in the sanctuary Blacktooth has made outside of town. It’s been two weeks since I was freed and I honestly couldn’t be happier. Though I feel sorry for the workers who had to cut out a hole big enough for me to enter to my own quarters.
While Blacktooth is on his crusades, continuing to free the furries, I have to note that I feel out of place when it comes to war. Though my build and strength are accommodating to the task, I am simply a peace-making horse, not a fighter. But, if anyone tries to hurt those I love, I’ll be there to defend them.
Anyway, I think it’s my place to stay here, or somewhere nearby, preferably in the forest, where I can be a constant protector to my friends, but not the main battering ram of the war. Blacktooth is a good man, and his wife has a good character. They’ll make this war end soon, I’m sure.”
Specks looked at a small human clock he had beside him, noted the lateness of the time, and, deciding he didn’t have much more to say, clicked the tape recorder off (using a special tool to hit the button), left the sanctuary, and walked off into the night.
