
A trautonium track to test out the synthesizer. Signal path consists of two Doepfer A-198 trautonium ribbon controllers controlling my homebuilt synthesizer, the Ya-Avrá, the output of which I'm feeding into a pair of Metasonix R-54 VCO/VCF modules for extra spice. However, their output is also jacked into G2 (via 100nF coupling capacitors) on V4 and V5 so there's some AM going on in there too.
At the heart of the machine is a 6J6 dual triode forming a dual Wien bridge (coupled through the adjustable tail resistor under the 6J6) with a pair of Soviet-surplus IV-15 VFD triodes. For this track, a 6BU8 dual pentode serves as an adjustable distortion mixer taking the capacitively-coupled output from the 6J6's anodes on its G3 grids (which want a loud signal); I can also toggle in a 6AR8 beam-deflection tube for this purpose if I want some wavefolding distortion, but for this track I wanted the softer, warmer fuzz of the 6BU8.
I adore the 6BU8. It is such a weird little tube and it is so full of amazing sounds.
