A piece to process all the built' up energy throughout my trip to NordicFuzzCon in the past week. And as a silent thank you to all the volunteers and staff members that made it all possible. It was a very special con trip, one of those vacations that go better than you initially had hoped for. Sometimes you don't know you needed something until you suddenly experience it.
I've loved fursuits since I was a kid and I remember looking at videos of furcons from 2009 and before in their camcorder-style glory. All those beautiful suits walking around, I was fixated on it and even now they are still the reason I joined the community. I remember going to sleep and wishing that I could one day too walk around like a big cool fluffy animal too.
The fursuit parade was my highlight of the convention and I took part in it in my blue jay suit Chi. Perhaps you yourself have been part of one too or have seen it in a video. All those ''normal'' people coming to see and admire all these colorful animal characters, moms and dads and kids going ''aaaah!'' and ''wooow!'' it was all wonderful to experience and quite magical. When I got back to my hotel room all exhausted and took a shower I started laughing and crying at the same time as I realized this was all exactly why I fell in love with ''furry'' and fursuiting to begin with. And I looked back on that young me wishing he experienced something like this. And he just did. It was such a profound moment that I hope to never ever forget. And I'm so grateful I got to be part of that wonderful parade.
Close to the venue was a Seven Eleven which I thought was funny as I thought those only existed in japan, and saying the name in my head is fun for some reason haha. It was a nice cozy place!
Thank you for reading this, even being able to share about this knowing that some of you will read it is a privilege in and of itself. So I would like to thank *you* too for being part of this community, and for interacting with it in the way that you do, whichever way that may be.

Honestly, the 'normal' people part of your story is especially what I find flattering: people got to bear witness to a parade of folks with shared interests basically having a fun, grand ol' time, and the very sight of all the colorful, upright animal-people probably made the days of those onlookers just as much as it did yours and other con-attendees <3.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I can only hope to be able to experience this for myself someday, whenever that may be!

Big agree! Honestly, I can never blame people for not quite being furry themselves, but still interacting with the community as though they've always been a part of it anyway!
And you know what? It feels as though the fandom is just as accepting and welcoming of its 'visitors' the same way it is for actual members <3.

Such a beautiful picture Luke. I love the background and shading. Also... 9 to five?! That's a convenient store I never thought I'd wanna see in a pic. Hehehe. Anyway, I'm glad to hear ya had a good time over there man.
I'll be honest... I didn't even know cons were a thing when I was little. Even when I started high school. I was always so limited to what I had to watch or get on. At least until before I graduated. I honestly always wanted to check em out after learning about them. No doubt they are fun despite how crowded they are. I'm hoping one day... I'll get to finally go to one. Even with you guys and see what it's like.

The magic of this kind of events isn't the event itself, but the people taking part in it. The parade it's only the crystallization of that fact, bringing a rainbow to the city, filling it with with people from all over the world who care about nothing but having a good time themselves and bringing the good times to those surrounding them. So thank you too for making this convention another amazing experience! ^^
