What's notable about this situation is that he gave away his location voluntarily, via signaling to ketosy assault ships that were pursuing him. Preferred to take a chance with being captured rather than go into stupor from lack of energy and potentially die among eternal ice. And returning to the Phase of Order would have been a much more inconvenient setback at this point, let's put it that way.
