This probably results in less brain damage too. It turns out that when you're not allowed to duck or block, and your opponent has free reign to wind back and put the high heat straight into your dome; getting slapped can ring your bell a lot worse than what you expect from the phrase "slap fight". Plus they're literally going until one "fighter's" brain is too scrambled to stand. Even boxers and MMA fighters can have a match end without someone being knocked out.
