Shortly after my arrival in Berlin, I was met by my friend  Riffuchs, who drove us out to the site of an abandoned power station in Plessa. It is a place that he has explored and photographed in the past. But entering such a place was an entirely new experience for me.

It feels appropriate to end this series with one of my final photos from the power station. By this time, we had spent several hours ascending stairs and crossing catwalks, and squeezing through tight spaces. I was tired, dirty, sweaty, and ready to call it a day.

My deepest thanks to Riffuchs for indulging me in this excursion and for being such a patient guide. He has been to Plessa many times and never seems to tire of the place. One could easily spend days wandering around inside. There is so much to see in there, not just the decades-old equipment, but also a break area, a showroom with a model of the station, and offices including a room full of fascinating documents. The facility is full of history. It must have been a grand place when it first went online and the workers must have been proud to be a part of it. I’m grateful for the chance to experience it.
