Massive structures once towered over fields and plains, at river mouths and on sea shores, on mountain cliffs and sheer rocks. These weathered and water-worn stone blocks still bear traces of ornaments and illustrations, as well as pictograms of a long-forgotten language. Most of these ruins are buried underground, drowning in the roots and crowns of trees, covered with moss and vines, or resting underwater, covered with sand and silt. From time to time, more preserved ruins are found, containing hand-made objects that have survived centuries of oblivion.

Carved stone images of various creatures, fragments of statues and rare finds of clay tablets give an idea of that life life on Vittalia was once completely different from that which now inhabits this planet.
Vittamas, the current intelligent inhabitants of Vittalia, can only guess who these creatures were, how they lived, and why they vanish from the face of planet. Even similyars, - those vittamas who know much more than their uninformed brethren because they serve their Lord and know how they were created, along with other creatures of their world, do not know what kind of civilization existed before them and why it disappeared.

Once similyars asked Lord, and he answered that the previous intelligent creatures greatly displeases him and he destroyed them and the "remnants of the ecosystem", completely disintegrating all organic matter on planet. Seeing shock that such answer caused in his subjects, Lord smiled and added that vittamas would not repeat the path of their predecessors, including because the Similiars now exist. Only one of those present tried to ask about what exactly those creatures had done, but Lord only replied that they should be forgotten. Since then, the Similyars have never dared to ask again about the "Forgotten Ones," as they later became known throughout Vittalia. Some vittamas, ordinary and similyar alike, study the ruins and everything related to the Forgotten Ones in an effort to learn more, but these are only fragmentary pieces of information, raising more questions than they answer.
