The big bug roster grows a little bit bigger again! Introducing Helanth, created by
NinthPolar's sense for the huge and the colorful! One of their adopts was tempting, but after mulling it over, I thought to commission a custom design instead!

Helanth is a butterfly from a swampland, and his body is rich in magical properties coveted by witches. Fortunately for him, when he was much smaller, his straightforward kindness appealed to the local covens, and he formed a pact as a supplier of their magickal reagents - in exchange for the opportunity to taste their craft. He's not very bright and struggles to learn new things, but his dealings with witches has given him a deeply intimate intuition for magic, at least any that he has personally experienced. As he continued to aid their experiments and his pact was threatened by the leery eyes of witch-hunters, he solved the problem by punching the witch-hunters VERY hard in the face, which was very easy given all the magick his arms got.
As his responsibilities among the covens grew, so did their magick's effects on his body... and his reputation among the witch-hunters. Rumors spread that the witches adopted an imp as their familiar and used him as a guinea pig to cultivate a devil-on-earth. Rumors that Helanth didn't care about, but which had nonetheless caused him to attract a startling amount of negative emotional energy. The neighboring clergy demonized him, and thus, their negative Zeal -- combined with the coven's magic and cordiality -- finally transformed him into a ferocious, imposing demon-like parody of himself.
When he noticed the transformation, he thought "Oh, that's cool!" And he kept doing his job as any himbo would do.
... that's what he wished he could keep doing. But no matter how powerful he became, the witch-hunters only escalated their aggressions to match his strength. Their aggressions were one of the things that MADE him as strong as he became -- he became the subject of their Zealous fearmongering, and the more they refused to accept defeat, the more their hate empowered him. It was becoming difficult to suppress his growing presence, and thus difficult to draw the witch-hunters attention away from the people he loved.
After a very difficult time grasping this aspect of his new godlike powers, he shared his scales one last time and bid the covens a heartfelt farewell.
In his search for employment on the cosmic job market, he recently join Cedi's cooperative as its fourth member. His technical skills are still terribly lacking and he only really understands magic and Zeal in how it's affected his body specifically, but he's shockingly emotionally intelligent, so much so that he can be somewhat uncanny in how bluntly he assesses and appeals to the emotional needs of others. He may easily embarrass others with how blunt he is, but only because he's so eager to help.
But no matter how physically distant Helanth is from the witches who made him who he is today, he keeps in touch with the covens whenever time and spiritual wi-fi allows it. Just... in case they need him again.
For no matter what the witch-hunters say, the Cult of Helanth knows that He protects the persecuted.
