Mini bosses are decent, Mid bosses are pretty good, and Final bosses are the penultimate challenge.
But I always find that second to last boss fight to be the most intense. The character would often be a second in command to the main bad guy and/or Rival to one of the main heroes, so the fights tend to be more personal, fast, aggressive, and in your face.
