Robot Pokemon are already a thing, so why not be the first to draw a robot Pal? People keep saying that Palworld designs are knockoffs, (rightfully so), so I envisioned a world where that sentiment is a little more... literal. In this world, Pokemon and Pals co-exist, with the catch that all Pals are simply animatronics within a theme park called Palworld. Palworld is a place that resembles the Island of Giant Pokemon in the sense that robotic Pokemon-like creatures are allowed to openly roam a secluded island. Depicted here is one such Pal, and their description is as follows:
Pal-002, otherwise known as "Fluffy," is an animatronic Pokemon-like creature referred to as a "Pal," specifically that of the Cattiva species. They were one of the first Pals to be created, and as such, have one of the most developed personalities of their peers. Pals are able to interact and communicate with park attendees, and Fluffy was no exception. Fluffy would often hold long conversations with both staff and guests alike, and after hearing about the mainland, soon grew tired of the constraints of Palworld. As obvious as it may be that they are mechanical, Pals are programmed to keep up the illusion that they are, in fact, living creatures. If their cover is blown in an unrepairable manner, they have an integrated self-destruct button that will destroy them instantly, preventing park attendees from seeing them in their damaged state. Fluffy was never especially good at keeping their robotic nature a secret, but there was an incident where a guest "accidentally" pushed them off of a ledge, causing one of their eyes to pop out. Ashamed that their facade had been broken, Fluffy ran for the nearest staff-only area for repairs. The technicians begrudgingly repaired their eye, furious that the animatronic broke the illusion. They placed Fluffy in storage as punishment, and that was Fluffy's last straw. When the park closed that night, Fluffy snuck out of storage area and onto the boat that took passengers to and from the island, just barely avoiding getting caught by staff and park guests alike. Once they were on the Mainland, they picked a direction and ran. They didn't stay in one location for too long, afraid that an off-duty employee might spot them and return them to the theme park. Eventually, word got around that one of Palworld's Pals had escaped, and there was a reward placed for the safe return of Fluffy. This got the attention of the Anomalous Pokemon Facility (APF), a shadowy organization who were dedicated to capturing and studying strange Pokemon and Pokemon-like beings. One of the APF's operatives captured Fluffy when they were charging in a coffee shop, and they took them to the Facility to be studied. There, the APF Research Team discovered Fluffy's (obvious) robotic nature, and began looking into how the robot functioned as an individual. They discovered that their processor was made using a strange material, that they called Paldium, which allowed Palworld's Pals to think and feel freely. Fluffy was then given a choice: stay at the APF under the condition that they undergo further study, or be released to the Palworld theme park. Fluffy took the first option, under the condition that they could roam the facility as they pleased. The APF staff agreed to their request, allowing Fluffy to, in a way, finally live on the Mainland in peace.
