In my mind, Devon is a very bad boy type and kind of a sketchy character, but the more I meet these kind of people, I notice sometimes that they are opportunistic, but otherwise the sketchiness is from necessity. I imagined Devon as this sketchy character, but if I ever flesh out his story, it is mostly because he comes from a poor family background.

Will from the comic Octopus Pie is indeed a sketchy character, but he is also a survivor, a lover, at one point a drug dealer, and he tries everything he can to try to make genuine connections.
