It seems like Ghost is going to get way closer to one of their favorite Sonic characters than they ever could've expected after visiting a shop that had just opened in their town. No matter what they expected or how things ended up though, one thing is for certain - they were in for a fluffy surprise.

A Fluffy Surprise
Written by TfedWorld | Lanolin TF/TG
The sun shone brightly down onto the streets below as the morning wind softly blew and whistled through the trees. On its own the day so far was calm, and nice, but truthfully that was only part of what made the day so special.. Rushing past all of these calming morning sensations, Ghosty found himself much more interested and focused on his destination rather than the scenery building up to it. He normally wouldn’t be up this early, especially on days where he really had nothing else going on in regards to responsibilities, like was the case today. Often he would opt to sleep in rather than go out on a walk or anything like that.
But today was an outlier, it was different – and it was different for one reason and one reason alone; today marked the day that a new store was opening in town, not only that, but it was a store that was very close to where Ghosty lived, and one that was seemingly selling a variety of different media-based nick-nacks and other things he generally had an interest in. From Cosplay materials, to replicated props, posters, books, shows, vintage games, and more, this store had it all. Or, so it was advertised. Either way, with the knowledge of what the store sold Ghosty wanted to be among the first of the patrons to the elusive shop, and so he was currently rushing down the sidewalk towards the building. It was so close that driving would have been a waste and he had to admit the walk was nice.
After a few minutes of walking Ghosty found himself right in front of the new store. The place that would, hopefully, be the catalyst for a day of fun and new experiences. The store wasn’t open yet, but it would be in a few minutes and so he figured that he could wait. Although, despite his own excitement, it seemed like he was the only one there, or at the very least the only one waiting. A fact that would become apparent as the time ticked down to the store’s opening time. Ghosty didn’t even know if there were any employees there yet, as the parking lot lay barren and empty, though the building was clearly new, along with the large sign in front of it. Right when he was starting to wonder if the place was actually going to open or if he had gotten the dates somehow wrong, he heard a soft click come from the front door, and the small LED open sign in the front window flicked on. Taking that as a sign that the building had in fact opened, he stood up from his sitting position and started to walk towards the front door, pulling the handles to reveal the rather spacious opening area.
Standing in the open area was a woman who had clearly just been on her way to the counter after unlocking the door, she was a bit disheveled and looked tired, her hair was a bit messy and she looked like she genuinely didn’t want to be working - standard retail look - but moreover, she was someone who was seemingly completely caught off guard by hearing someone already enter, even as she just unlocked the place. As the door shut behind Ghosty, and made a fairly loud sound. As the door clicked shut, the woman jumped a bit seemingly in surprise before turning her head over towards the door.
“Oh! Hi there - I uh… I wasn't expecting any customers this early.” she said with a soft chuckle,
“You almost gave me a heart-attack.” she added jokingly as she finished walking behind the counter, dusting off her store-themed vest.
“My name’s Vera, nice to meet you. Welcome – I guess you have the privilege of being our first customer!” Vera said, a cheerful and infectious smile being plastered across her face. A stark contrast to her tired and done-with-the-day demeanor she had when she didn’t think anyone else was there. Vera was a fairly tall woman, with wild hair that sprawled in every direction, its surface coated in a hue of purples and blacks. She wore a pair of thin glasses and had on what seemed to be a fairly standard company uniform.
“I’m still getting everything set up, but don’t worry, you can look around the store as you please if you want. Everything is mostly ready.” she said, looking toward her computer and typing something in.
Ghosty was a bit stunned by the sudden encounter with the woman but shrugged it off with a smile, and thanked her for the introduction as well as for letting him walk around even though not everything was ready yet. As he perused the shelves of the store he was enamored by the variety on display. Indeed there were a lot of different items in stock, and it was almost hard to fully take everything in. It all seemed to be just as advertised. There were arcade machines, games being sold among bookshelves filled with literary and graphic works, from various sources. A row of comic books, also on display, and a small walkway beside that section leading into a slightly larger room. The other room was mostly filled with the more physical items. Things like cosplay props, full cosplays, and prop replications. There were a lot of those, on one wall was a series of blasters - Samus’ arm cannon, MegaMans blaster, etc. Each finely crafted and looking as game-accurate as they could be. On the other were more fantasy oriented things.
A keyblade sat neatly displayed on the wall, among a series of other recognizable swords and weapons, all made mostly out of foam, but looking as realistic as they could. While all of these props were impressive, none of them were what caught Ghost’s attention. No, that honor would go to a series of props sitting in their own corner. Most of them being Sonic themed, and not only that, but items themed after various characters from the newest comic-book series. His attention had particularly been drawn to a small bell in the corner. Looking at it, the bell looked very familiar, but for some reason he couldn’t put his finger on why. Taking the bell Ghosty would tie it softly around his neck like a necklace, the bell ringing slightly as he did so. It was comically big on him but it was so silly he loved it.
Distracted by the soft ringing of the bell, a sound which was mostly soothing to hear now neatly tied around his neck, Ghosty failed to notice the small, almost imperceivable changes that were starting to occur across his body. His hair had started to, from the roots, change its color, and change drastically at that. The raven-colored strands were bleaching themselves, becoming a more pearl-white hue, a hue which was rapidly spreading. As the color swept across his hair, a new change would start. This time, unlike with the changing hair color, Ghosty would notice it however. On top of his head, in two very distinct spots, he started to feel some… pressure? It didn’t hurt, and it didn’t exactly feel bad, but it was definitely a feeling that he had never felt before and it was a feeling that only grew over time. Ghosty took one of his hands and moved it toward the top of his head, using it to feel around. His hair felt the same, though, when his hand swept over one of the spots that he had initially felt the pressure in, something was immediately off. His hand grazed over something that wasn’t hair, but instead, was a lot harder. A much more solid material, and not only that, one that was seemingly actively growing out of his head! Quickly, he felt around the second area where he had been feeling the pressure and sure enough, something was growing in that area as well.
Stunned at what was happening, Ghosty quickly looked around the room, trying to find some way to better look at what was happening to him - luckily, he was beside a window. The blinds were down but he could still see his reflection in the glass. Something which would ordinarily act as a simple, if neat, accent wall to the room, he was now using to get a better look at the rapidly occurring changes to his body. Upon running over to the paneling and looking at himself, he almost immediately noticed his hair, which at this point had mostly shifted from its original black coloring to a new pure white tone. That, though, was not the most noticeable change. No, that honor would have to go to the two horns which were now placed atop his head. The small, slightly sharp but rounded appendages being completely alien to Ghosty. He once more ran his hand along the horns, while at first he thought perhaps he was imagining it, the image in front of him made it quite clear that he was, indeed, not doing that. No, it seemed like whatever was happening was very real, and it was happening fast. So fast that as Ghosty looked at his reflection, even more changes started to occur.
In one swift motion, the front section of his hair ‘poofed’ outwards. It was sudden, and the hair wobbled slightly as it settled and just continued to expand in more quick, poofy motions, becoming much softer and much larger. First in the front of his hair and quite a few more times in the back as his hair styled itself in a very distinct, sheepish style. From his hair the white color seemed to ‘drain’ downwards, coloring his face. As it did so his head shape as a whole seemed to change.
“W-woah” he said, taken aback as the poofy white coloring continued across his hair, and started down his face.
His head changed in a number of different ways, following his hair. As the white coloring filled his face he could feel and see it shift in the window's reflection. His ears started to grow outwards in a cartoonish manner, becoming bigger and floppier as they moved closer to the top of his head, blending in with his snow-white hair and sitting just beside his new black horns. Hise eyes would also start to grow in size, becoming just as cartoonishly big as his head started to round itself out, thick eyelashes would grow along with the other changes to his eyes. His nose started to push outwards a bit, as the area around it and his mouth took on a more tan hue, as opposed to the rest of his head which had almost become completely enveloped in the white wool and fur. His nose itself had shrunk a little bit and gained a pinkish tone.
As the changes continued in his head the rest of Ghosty’s body would begin changing as well. His overall physique would change as his body got smaller, his chest gaining a bit more curvature as he could feel it pushing out more. His arms and legs would also get smoothed out more, and get skinnier. Becoming, like the rest of his body, more cartoonish in proportion. This all happened as the white fur began to completely overtake his body. His hands and feet would grow out a little bit, fitting the rest of his more toon appearance. To top everything off he could feel his wooly ‘hair’ start to get pulled, stretched, and tightened as a few hair ties started to style themselves into his hair. Coming together to create a very distinct hairstyle.
Ghosty was still lost in the new sensations that his more sheepish body was bringing him, not to mention the confusion of what he had just witnessed and the fluffy feeling he felt covering his body. It was all a lot to take in, so much so that he almost failed to notice the other changes happening. While most of his physical form had completely shifted into the all-too-familiar Mobian, his clothing hadn’t. The outfit he was wearing before was now very baggy on his smaller form, his oversized shirt looking ridiculous. But that’d be soon fixed as, stemming from where the bell was, his clothing would also begin to change.
His jacket would start to merge in the center, the part where the zipper would normally be becoming smaller and smaller until it re-tailored itself into a top without a hole in the middle. It would also shrink, to fit his new body type, with it becoming overall shorter. The sleeves of his jacket were receding into the body of the jacket, each sleeve going from wrist-length, to shoulder-length, until eventually the sleeves disappeared completely, leaving two arm-holes and having his once-jacket function more like a tank-top. The final change for his top would be the color, though it would be as drastic. His already faded-orange jacket started to become much, much more vibrant. Being a newer-looking, more fresh orange color.
When those final changes subsided, and the dust finally settled on the rapidly changing girl, there wasn’t any trace of Ghosty left! At least, not physically. Mentally ‘he’ was still ‘himself’, but Standing in his place was Lanolin, the Sheep from the Sonic IDW comics. Her left ear twitched slightly as she looked at her reflection in shock, her eyes darting around and looking at each of her new features, from the large poofy white hair to the drastically altered outfit. Not to mention her much smaller physique, with added cartoonish proportions. She looked like a living, breathing comic character - specifically a Sonic one. Which was mostly because she… Well, she was. The perfect visage of the adorable sheep character from the comics, the characters whom the bell Ghosty had initially picked up belonged to. If she had any questions as to what character the bell belonged to they were all but vanquished at this point as the answer quite literally stared her in the face.
“This… this is impossible. This should be impossible.” she said, quickly putting both of her hands over her mouth as the voice that came out was utterly unfamiliar. Not only because it wasn’t her voice, but also because it was technically the first time she had actually heard lanolin speak, considering she was a character from a comic and was a character who didn’t really… have a voice. Interestingly, though, the voice which she was speaking with was the one she had always imagined Lanolin having.
“How… what… did the bell do this?” she questioned aloud, looking down at the bronze bell which was still prominently displayed and hung around her neck. Perhaps if she took it off this would all… reverse? She gripped at the bell and tried to take it off but, to her slight dismay, it didn’t budge. She tried again and again but no matter how hard she did so she hadn’t managed to even move it an inch. It was at that moment that she realized another abundant fact about her current predicament as she looked around. Her environment hadn’t changed, not in the slightest. She was a Mobian alright but was not in the world of the IDW comics. No, she was still in the same position in the shop she was when she started changing. Meaning….
A small gasp was heard off to her side as Lanolin slowly turned her attention towards the noise, seeing a seemingly baffled and stunned store patron, someone who was now fairly taller than her, something that wasn’t hard to do with her new stature, and who seemed to be just as shocked to see her as she was to have changed. The person quickly snapped of a photo of the clearly-real Mobian standing in front of them and It was at that moment, as the flash of the photo subsided that Lanolin realized there was going to be a whole different set of challenges that her new body was destined to bring, other than just her herself adapting to it… this was going to be a long, long day.
