In the northern wilds, an adventurer stumbles upon ancient ruins. Amidst them, a colossal monolith, its surface adorned with inscriptions in the long-lost Dovahzul tongue. To his astonishment, these runes transform him into a wyvern. What shall he do with his newfound form?

That is a really, really lovely rendition of a Skyrim dragon.
They don't have a good time in Skyrim since they have an innate desire to dominate others and that gets them doing stupid things and getting killed, and even the good-guy dragons who throw in their lot with the humanoid races still get ruthlessly hunted down by dragonslayers (and in some cases, the player themselves).
I've spent the last 3 months roleplaying as a dragon via the play-as-a-dragon mod, and from this I can definitively state that, if I did suddenly find myself as a dragon in Skyrim I would do the following:
1, Figure out how to fly and land without slamming into trees and faceplanting the ground (this took me a few days)
2. Immediately thereafter, wing my way to the top of the mountain and pledge fealty to Mr. Paarthurnax in exchange for his protection and tuition in draconic self-control.
From here I could make further plans for avoiding the following hazards:
1. Alduin the evil dragon who would try to kill me and eat my soul if he found me and I refused to serve him
2. Hostile dragons who might kill me and eat my soul to extend their powers and territory
3. The Dragonborn (hero of the game) who might kill me and eat my soul for being a dragon in the wrong place at the wrong time
4. Miraak, who might hypnotize me, then kill me and eat my soul to extend his own powers
5. Delphine and the blades who would try to kill me (but not eat my soul) because I'm a dragon and they kill dragons for fun and profit
If I didn't have to worry about any of the above problems, then I'd probably spend most of my time flying around eating fascist elves and setting bandits alight.
