Sketch featuring Rikki the Rook I did in February during visiting San Luis Potosí state. I was so impressed by mountains there! I was born and lived most of my time on earth in St. Petersburg, Russia - very flat area with highest peak ~3 meters above sea level. In San Luis Potosí I was lucky to visit Real deal Catorce town («ghost town» which is not ghost anymore actually and capitol of peyote cactus eaters) and mountains nearby which were almost 3000 meters above sea level.
I like to use my bird characters to represent some of my own feeling or life events - somehow I do it through my sona more rare - and wanted someone of my characters to move to Mexico. Antagonist of the story Rikki was perfect for it. Especially since I often represent my dark and evil side through him.
Want to explore more topic of Rikki and Mexico through artworks and maybe comics later when I'll be in better art form.
