- "Look, Ron, I know you really love that huge pred girlfriend of yours, but..."
- "This again ? If this is going to be yet another lecture about her potentially betraying and eating me, I swear to God-"
- "No, you're right, that's your problem. It's just... Don't you find it a bit emasculating, to date a woman who towers over you like that ?"
- "Are you kidding ? She's the perfect height for hugs !"
This one's a little practice piece I sketched the other day, as a way to experiment with drawing two characters interacting physically with eachother on top of doing some general rear view practice. It turned out decent-looking enough to be worthy of being shared, though I'll definitely have to push them a bit closer and fix that arm should I make a digital line for this one.
Just like my own OC Jack, Mabel is an Apex pred herself. As a result, she's significantly taller than average, standing an impressive 8ft (243cm) tall. But while the first pic I drew of her already established that she definitely has quite the appetite, it didn't really convey how damn big she actually is. Hence why I figured it could be interesting to depict her standing directly at the side of her boyfriend. Who is 6.3ft tall (or 192cm) himself, so hardly a midget.
Yes, her boyfriend is a sheep. Yes, she's half-wolf. Yes, their relationship started out as her seeing him as no more than a potential meal until she genuinely fell in love with him. And yes, she still genuinely feels the temptation to eat him for good, but she loves him too much to give in and he knows it~
There's just something great about pred/prey couples, y'know ?

He's really not a pred though; in fact, like most anthros based on herbivorous species in that setting, he's a vegetarian.
That being said... Anyone can become a pred in this setting, even "prey species". Which means herbivorous species, while typically vegetarian, can eat meat, it's just more of an "acquired taste" for them.
Ron did end up acquiring that taste, though, under Mabel's influence; he started eating meat in the late 80s and still does so today.
As for him actually eating someone... Well, I'm still not truly sure about it, but I did think of a scenario. Y'see, when Ron met her, Mabel was the 30 years old single-mom of a teenage son; she got knocked up in highschool, and, being an Apex pred, her cravings caused her to eat her boyfriend, the kid's father.
While Mab's son initially didn't think much of Ron ("he's just yet another guy my mom is gonna eat, like all the others"), they ended up getting along great, and Ron even legally adopted the kid after marrying Mabel. He genuinely considers him his son even though they have no blood ties and aren't even the same species, and is very protective towards him.
Then one day, when Ron was either in his 40s or 50s, some guy started talking shit about him, calling him a "beta male" or a "weakling" for marrying a single mom and adopting a kid that isn't his. Ron would just shrug it off and let it slide. Then the guy would refer to Mabel's kid as "another man's garbage", and that alone would make Ron snap and cause him to just jump the guy and swallow him whole.
Sorry for the novel; it's just that, yeah, Ron *isn't* a pred, but he'd make an exception in that sspecific scenario :B
