Bad copper get the boot... even without boots.
There's something about Sargent Hamlin that I just like as a character.
Disgruntled and grouchy as he can get, at his core he is a deeply compassionate and sensitive soul and an honest Cop who does what's right even if he's willing to bend rules.
So, here in his incarnation in the setting of "An American Tail" that we have seen earlier, we witness him losing his final fig with the absolutely corrupt copper, Chief McBrusque (A villain we meet in the animated spin-off An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island). It doesn't matter he's assaulting a higher ranking officer, Hamlin can only stand idle so long before he realises that unless the law applys on BOTH sides of that thin blue line then they are worthless.
Hamlin: "My father is a metalworker, Sir. He taught me that when you get bad copper... you beat it until it becomes either something useful, or is so wrecked you don't regret tossing it into the ashcan!"
