Seems to be a furry fan favorite!
Bit of a funny story to go with those:
When dad remarried, mom came to Ohio to live with us from Tennessee. Back home, she'd always made biscuits with White Lily self-rising flour. She wanted to treat the kids with a good "southern breakfast" of biscuits, country gravy made from the bacon drippings, bacon, and scrambled eggs. But all we had was Pillsbury all-purpose flour.
The breakfast was great, but needless to say, the biscuits did not turn out as expected. She hadn't added any baking soda or powder to them, because her normal White Lily flour didn't need it. Those poor biscuits were so hard and dense, that the dogs wouldn't even treat them as dog biscuits!! They took one chomp and just dropped them from their jaws, to land with a *thomp* on the kitchen floor.
We had a good laugh over it. And she definitely redeemed herself with fantastic breakfasts from there on out! Including wonderful biscuits and gravy!
