Jimmy didn’t remember sitting down in front of the TV. Wasn’t he looking for a bathroom? He shifted forward; the undeniable squish of his diaper answered his question. What a silly thought, he wasn’t ready for the potty…right? Was he looking for someone to change him?
Something didn’t feel right about that. In fact, he didn’t feel right. His head was tingly and it felt like it had been stuffed with cotton. It was like his entire body was pulling in on itself and he couldn’t seem to stop drooling. His legs were cold too but that was just his onesie.
Now that he thought about it, he didn’t remember wearing this to the party…
The party..
THE PARTY!
He was going to a grown up party! He wasn’t a baby! Jimmy started to panic he wanted to get up, to run. That’s when he felt a small hand touch his knee.
“Jimmy wook!” An excitable chipmunk squealed, “it Pawbs!”
The wolf looked back to the screen. The bright colours, silly voices and gentle songs filled his senses. The cotton feeling in his head only grew larger and the world around him faded into the background.
He could here his adult voice pleading with him to look away but the show seemed to pull out the anxiety knotted in his chest and that felt nice… He was small. The voice got quieter. He didn’t have to worry about grown up problems. It was just a whisper now.
This is how he was supposed to be. Jimmy giggled; wondering just how small he would get. He looked to his right. Smaller than Adrian? Then to the left. Smaller than Ace? Finally, he looked over at the bear struggling to stay sitting up. Smaller than Brigsby?
Weren’t they big boys? Bright flashes and sparkles drew the wolf’s attention back to the screen.
“Wow PAWBS! Look at all the new friends we made today!” The puppet on screen squealed gleefully.
It felt like the characters were performing just for them.
But that wasn’t right…Pawbs and Baahby couldn’t see them…TV was make believe. Jimmy heard the last desperate whimper of the big voice telling him to run.
“Dis show is for ba…for..f-funny…”

I really like this one. There's something particularly fun about a whole group at various stages of being affected, or someone getting lured into the effects almost accidentally because their friend is already trapped. And the story adds the element of knowing something is amiss, but being helpless to figure it out before it's too late. Great job!
