The Hippo Lisa (Painting Body-Swap)
Commission I bought from good pal Dez (https://www.deviantart.com/dez-a-sketch) last year! Decided to adapt this into a story. If you're wondering why the ending gets so wild, I'm setting up for a story arc. Yep, this is like my fourth attempt at trying to do a story arc! This time I actually want to carry through with it and do a long form narrative.
I want to tell something grand and do more with Jam beyond silly body-swap antics, so stay tuned for some amazing stuff soon! In the meantime, enjoy this silly nonsense hippo painting swap!
Story:
It's always good to be mindful of signs in museums. After all, breaking the rules often comes with consequences! Not only that, but some art museums house cursed exhibits ready to teach those who get a little too handsy a lesson. Jam was about to get taught that very important lesson of keeping his grubby monkey paws to himself. The monkey was visiting the museum one day, on the lookout for hot and sexy statues.
As Jam perused the statues, he suddenly remembered something. He had been permanently transformed into a mannequin last week after he bent over to pick up a coin in an abandoned mannequin factory! Normally when something like that happens to Jam, its retconned into an alternate universe and rendered non-canon, forgotten about in a matter of weeks. So that begs the question, how did Jam remember this scenario in such vivid detail? He decided to perish the thought for the moment, he was more focused on looking for some hot objects!
He walked about on all fours, pressing his knuckles against the floor with each step. The monkey made his way through the museum, gazing at every sexy display that caught his eye. He chuckled to himself, "So many nice inanimate hotties around!"
Jam eventually stumbled across the hall of "Leonardo Da Turtle's" masterworks. This exhibit was home to all of the painter's most popular and well-known works, including a particular one that caught Jam's eye. It was none other than the "Hippo Lisa", Da Turtle's most famous (and cursed) work. Jam approached the painting, not knowing of the terrible hex it was under! There was even a sign underneath the painting that read, "No touching! Staff is not responsible for any soul swapping antics."
Jam actively ignored the sign and chose not to read it, instead focusing on the painting itself. The anthropomorphic hippo in the painting was smiling, clad in a gorgeous old-fashioned dress and sitting in a wooden chair. She had hippo-feet in place of her hands and beautiful green eyes.
Jam approached the painting while wiggling his grubby fingers around. With a silly grin on his face, the monkey poked his index finger against the painting! Merely touching the painting caused it to glow, prompting Jam to back away from it. A pink ghost emerged from the painting, appearing to be an anthropomorphic poodle! The poodle spirit smiled as she floated towards Jam, "Thank you so much for freeing me from that painting, little man!"
Jam nodded, "No problem!"
The poodle then floated over to Jam and reached a spectral arm into his torso, "Let me thank you!"
She then pulled Jam's spirit out, leaving him as spectral floating monkey! He looked down at his now soulless body, which slumped over on the ground with drool streaming from his mouth. He smirked, "Woah, an out-of-body experience!"
She nodded as she held a ghostly paw out to the spectral simian, "Yep! I thought you could spend a little time as a spirit with me, so I can properly thank you with a dance!"
Jam nodded and took her hand, "Sounds good to me!"
The pair danced in mid-air, their glowing bodies looking like a pair of holograms projected high above the ground. They danced in tandem with each other, Jam was surprisingly able to keep pace despite not being used to being a phantom. The monkey and poodle danced elegantly, like a pair of kites delicately tangling together. After their dance, the poodle's grin turned into one of malice as she grabbed Jam's ghostly form, "Thanks for the dance, lover-boy! Time for you to go to your new home!"
Jam panicked, "H-Huh?!"
Before he could escape the poodle's grasp, she hauled up and tossed him towards the painting. Jam's soul hurtled into the painting, possessing it. His soul took over the "body" of the hippo inside. His (or rather "her") skin was completely grey and felt quite hard. Her body was chunky and bulbous and possessed a pair of sizable breasts. She had long, flowing brown hair which touched down to her shoulders. Jam was also clad in a brown-and-black dress, one which looked centuries old!
Jam was now flat and completely inanimate, she couldn't speak or breathe! Her body was made out of dried paint, which made her "skin" feel rough. It felt like she had a body that was both real and fake at the same time. What was even crazier is that the painting itself felt like a separate entity. The scenery behind the hippo felt and looked real, to the point where she could even feel the wind blowing against her inanimate body! She of course couldn't interact with the world of this painting at all and was stuck looking outwardly from within the painting, forced to sit forever in her tiny little chair.
She felt so helpless and captive in her new form, mainly because she was stuck looking straight ahead at her soulless body! She could only watch as the poodle spirit slid her soul into Jam's body, quickly taking it over. The poodle began to convulse in Jam's body, slowly getting used to having a physical form once again.
After several minutes of thrashing and desperate attempts at movement, the new monkey quickly stood up and stretched "his" new limbs. He found his new body fit like a glove, even if it was quite smelly! He flicked his new prehensile tail as he knuckle-walked around the room. He found his new monkey body quite agile and energetic, much better than his old body. After stretching his new limbs, the monkey stood up straight and began to saunter out of the room in a very feminine manner.
"Uh oh... Just when I stopped grabbing shiny coins, I decide to touch cursed paintings instead!" Thought the former monkey, unable to express her displeasure through words due to her lack of movement.
The poodle wearing the monkey's body put his hand on his hip as he left the room, "Thanks for letting me out, dear! Your soul will get used to being a painting! I can finally stretch my legs, how splendid!" With that, the body-thief left the room and Jam remained trapped in the painting forever... At least, that's what she thought was going to happen.
As Jam hung from the wall in her painted prison, the world around her started to glitch and become fuzzy. It was like reality was being torn apart at the seams. Time itself started to rewind at an immense rate, as if the last few hours didn't happen. As this happened, everything went black and Jam lost consciousness. Jam awoke later and found himself back in his own body! He was laying on the floor of the museum, much to his surprise. He looked back at the painting and could somehow sense that the poodle's soul was once again trapped inside it.
Even though he was thankful to be free from the painting, he knew what was going on was bizarre. He gave his head good shake and stood up, "That was weird! I thought I would've been stuck inside that painting permanently and that this story would be retconned as an alternate universe. If that's the case, why am I back to normal? And how did I get back to normal?"
Despite the fact that Jam was speaking out loud to himself, another voice responded, "Why? Because you're finally awakening to your true powers, that's why!"
The lights suddenly dimmed, leaving the room pitch black. Jam looked around in an attempt to find who spoke just now, but could only see darkness. Jam gulped, "W-What powers?! And who are you?"
The voice laughed, "Oh, you'll know in time. And I think you know exactly what powers I'm talking about,"
Jam raised an eyebrow, "Is this about me being a demi-god? Look, I only said that so Ammit wouldn't devour my soul!"
"But it's true, isn't it? You are a clone of Sun Wukong, a being with immense powers. And now those very powers are tearing apart the fabric of reality. Permanent body-swaps that would result in alternate timelines are being reversed, reality itself is breaking, and all of it is happening because of you,"
Jam smiled nervously, "T-That's not true! I'm just a silly monkey-scientist, how could some silly body-swap stories threaten reality?"
"It's because the blood of a god runs through your veins! Sure, they're silly stories, but at the center of them is a genetic clone of the most powerful being on earth. A mixture of magic and science, a tank-bred monstrosity that is neither god nor mortal. You are truly an abomination,"
"Look, who are you? Why don't you come out here and say that crap to my face?!"
"Not yet, I haven't placed all the pawns on the board yet. How can I have a proper checkmate if I haven't lined everything up correctly?"
The monkey scowled, "Why treat this like a game? If my mere existence is such a threat to the universe, shouldn't you take things more seriously?"
"Oh please, as if you treat anything seriously. But regardless, by the end of this there will be a new and less messy continuity. And when that happens, I'll make sure that you're not a part of it. So long for now, 'Jam Wukong', we will meet again!"
With that, the mysterious figure stopped talking and disappeared completely. The lights turned back on as Jam stood there in absolute silence. Was he really the cause of his permanent body-swaps being easily reversed? Was he really a demi-god who's very existence threatened the world? He tried to perish the thought, after all he was just a silly monkey in silly stories. Still, those thoughts still reverberated through Jam's head. Little did he know, he would soon receive the answers to all of those questions and more. He walked away from the painting he had previously been trapped in, wondering if his existence was truly tearing reality apart...
