And for my latest commission from
SonicSweeti, I decided to go for an illustration of the last scene from my previous short story Cosplay, which ended up with red panda and cat cosplaying at an anime con as Max and Miriya Sterling respectively from Macross/Robotech. The latter of which is an easier one to pull off if you can change sizes, for obvious reasons...
(I didn't actually call her Jenora in the story, but yeah, the cat was definitely supposed to be an alternate universe version of Jenora.)
Artist's posting at /view/51050614/ (without the camera viewfinder lines) so go check things out there, too!

Given that the Jentradi...hee, the Zentradi started out the size of Veritechs in humanoid form and some smaller Battloids and were later micronized as part of the peace treaty with the RDF/REF after the Robotech Masters cut them loose and by the time the Invid decided to come and play, that a lovely golden-brown starcat could pick whichever height-format she chose makes this an excellent and sustainable cosplay.
Honestly, I'd have a lot less trouble as a Terran-sized person if the Zentradi turned out to be an engineered race of gigantic felinoids along the lines of your loveliness, but my bias thus is long since spoken of. <3

O, I remember him; the Chief Zed in both stature and authority, second only to the Masters whom he served. I liked his 'Phantom of the Opera' half-mask that he first wore a whole lot more than the 'Magneto' bucket-mask he donned post-Micronization, though we see him wear it and Breetai himself only very briefly after his reduction to more-or-less human size.
I suppose I could find a very stylish bucket (or water tower) to put on your head, assuming I could get it up there in the first place... <3

I find myself thinking of that fellow who always wore a helm or helmet, whether he was on duty or off, in more than a few of the vintage Gundam series and later on if it wasn't him, there was another character with the same habits; that it wasn't a duty helm or affectation but it was part of him, like the Phantom and the mask he was emotionally and psychologically bound to. Not unlike the getup Breetai wore pre-Micronization, but I think my position that he saw it as more than simply a mask or what he wore in the company of other Zentradi who served him as bound parallel to the Phantom's.
"He was never afraid of being vulnerable; he has spent his entire life being vulnerable and bereft of respect, short of what little the amusements of paying, marvelling spectators provide in witness of his nakedness without the mask, or without the shadows who solely respected and cradled him. He did not know what love was, and probably never did; Christine Daee he did not love, but what was within her when she sang; pathos far obscuring eros. No-one taught him how to love, for no-one braved coming close to show him it. He learned too late that desire and love and not the same thing, however much they can overlap."
"No-one betrayed him now, but himself. He is long since betrayed, and its lesson he both internalized and brought borne in his heart and purpose. I should ask you this, sir: did you ever ask his name? Or was his moniker the only one you cared to call and know him by?"

I mean, the manipulative masked character is one of the staples of Gundam, from Char Aznable in the original series to the modern Prospera Mercury.
To paraphrase Dave van Domelan (who was talking about Transformers at the time), Gundam doesn't have a continuity; it has a mythos.

Thank you kindly, Char, Char Aznable! Char's Counterattack, one of the 1980's Gundam series, I remember it now. I mean, Char was part of the whole Gundam business going back to the 1970s (I believe), and I think your and Dave's mutual profession is wholly valid: Gundam is a franchise meshed within an archetype, a legend and myth, like the Gundam piloted mecha themselves, depending on where and when the present day is set in one of the series.
I haven't watched The Witch From Mercury yet, but would Prospera be the 'witch' mentioned in the series' title?

Hee. I do like the 'Tali in a Valkyrie' one from SailorAnna.
Of course, you and are are roughly of an age... I was in high school when Robotech showed up on TV to start with, and in University when they started trying to do 'The Sentinels' and everything kind of fell over. I still have copies of pretty much all of the comic book adaptations from Comico. (I even have copies of the two issues of 'Robotech Defenders' from DC, which was an even more alternate continuity than Robotech was from Macross to start with.)
This image just seemed like such an obvious idea if you actually had giant-scale anime fans.

I haven't really had serious comics plans. Occasional ideas, and even one music video animation idea, but nothing that I've gone into in great detail.
I've written superhero stories before, and even had illustrations done for them (/view/10648007/ being one example) but never really went the full comics scripting route; it just seemed like a lot of work.
Actually, now that I think about it, I did have a short superhero comics script idea at one point, but that was for Supermegatopia, and said comic is sadly quite dead now.

... how is it this gets posted less than 24 hours after I have a discussion about which VF models I need to see about acquiring at some point? The world is telling me something.
(And no, it's not because I know much about Macross/Robotech other than some other shall-remain-nameless franchise which made use of the designs back in the day.)

Well, this one has been in progress for a few days now, so showing up in this exact day is still at least a bit of a coincidence. (Posted idea and refs to artist on Saturday, paid on Monday, got the initial sketch on Tuesday, and final image on Wednesday.)
And really, a one-in-a-million chance will still happen to about eight thousand people.
(And pretty sure I know which other franchise you mean; they did get threatened with lawsuits over it, though of course the original RPG license holders for Robotech were infamously sue-happy to a level that even TSR didn't reach.)

"Architects of the world, I walk
Your streets, and live in your towns,
Temporarily, architects of the world
You've served us well until now,
But soon, we'll be on our own;
And I'll sleep, sleep in your nova-heart,
As things come apart I'll hide
Hide in your nova-heart,
At ease with the thought
That this nova won't burn out."
