I made friends with a pleasant female donkey at a fair years ago. I know, 'nice @$$'; well, she was. Anyway, her timid little friend kept taking a few tentative little steps toward us and skittering away again. Finally, the little one got up some nerve and sidled up close enough to get a little attention. Her owner stuck her head out of the tent and yelled, "What are you doing to my donkeys?"

I said I was just giving them some skritchies. "The little one's terrified of men!" She came over, mystified. "Did you give her some treats?"

"Nope, I just petted her roommate and she got jealous." I guess I'm an @$$ whisperer...

Love it. Poor Donkeys, everyone dumps on them... They sure do appreciate someone being nice to them though.
