A rare painted pic!
So I started messing around with another drawing AI yesterday (Diffuse-the-rest) that seems to be a fair bit more powerful than Craiyon, and I started messing around with brushes and stuff and before I knew it, I was full-on painting. If you looked at the image that DTR spat out it was not very impressive to look at. But to me, it represented a unique jumping off point. It was hi-res enough that I could actually upscale it and have good enough results to start painting directly over, and after considerable fussing I was able to get something nightmare-fuel-free that I felt confident I could work over. That makes it a tremendous step up from Craiyon even though I still ended up having to basically repaint almost the whole thing.
Under normal circumstances painting is a lot more time consuming than I would prefer to bother with, but in this case I had the basic composition worked out by the machine and didn't have to fuss myself thinking about lighting and all that other stuff, so I think it worked out quite nicely all things considered.
Down below I've attached the raw file from DTR if you're curious to see what I had to start with. And that was after spending a considerable amount of time feeding the AI various images and syntax prompts to try and get it to give me something nice. Even though it's more powerful than Craiyon, it's incredibly stubborn about drawing anthro characters, and I was frequently tripping the "safety flag" feature which was a whole other layer of headaches (apparently, AI is a big prude). On the bright side, I have a folder full of unused material that might come in handy later. :P

There are any number of ethical reasons that people have been reluctant to release the most powerful and unrestricted versions of these programs, such as the ability of people to use them to create porn, "Deep fake" images, etc.
But programs such as Stable Diffusion are being released that don't subscribe to such scruples.

I've been screwing around with AI art stuff or a while. I'm personally quite fond of some of the more "Broken" results, at least partly because they're an interesting window into the state of the medium as well as our general culture and its biases. My scraps have a bunch of examples.
I've seen some impressive results, but more frequently they're somewhere more to the weird end of the scale.
Using these things as a base to edit or paint over, or for composition or color palettes are some of the best uses I've seen for them so far.

Yeah, this is nice.
rickgriffin used MidJourney to create a background that he painted over recently, another good example: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48423989/

It really is. He obviously put a lot of his own work into that.
I used an example from https://thisfursonadoesnotexist.com/ as a base for a pic of Krystal a while back. I did a good bit of editing to make it more Krystal like. The seed number is included so you can see the original I started from.
