Here's a more durable frame - this one was drawn first and is actually closer to what I want them to be - although the machine muscle doesn't need to be as externally visible as here, it could be recovering from injury or needing extra limbs for external interaction or part integration.

Ignore the wonky anatomy, I'll get that ironed out.

The idea is that these are more or less organic looking on the outside - with a smooth but flexible plated surface, perhaps even with a slight amount of give... Like touching a real dragon.

Inside runs machine muscle, machine blood, machine vitals, all supporting the core.
Machines of this size have enough hardware to support complete operator conversion, which is the ideal level.
Being stuck as a partial operator could be troublesome in the long run.

Built for marathon endurance and not quick explosive bursts, one can walk for days without rest or refuelling.
