Just your average raccoon bog mage catching his nightly meal. I'd consider this a responsible use of magic :)
Randomly had this image in my head after watching 'The Rescuers' and really loving the way the swamp was designed and how beautiful they made the water look. I really wanted to challenge myself to paint the background as much as possible while still keeping my character linework in the forefront, not unlike how they do the cells and lay them on top of matte paintings in old animated films. Of course, they don't typically do dynamic lighting like this in those cell animations, but I liked the idea too much to not give the lighting a shot.
I know this is a little different from what I normally post in this gallery, but I hope folks like it! It was fun to do an art piece that was basically just for me.
