- You shouldn’t drink that much.
- Not like you can do anything about it.
- Still…
- Will you just stop it? I am trying to focus – said Cora with a slightly annoyed tone, then continued to paint the life-sized portrait while she took another sip of wine from the glass in her hand. She has worked on that painting for almost two weeks now.
- You should have some rest, you haven’t slept for days – said Lya, clearly worried.
- Can’t stop it now, I want to finish this painting, it will be perfect, I can feel it – she smiled for a moment before looked away for a moment to find another color on her palette – And I have told you a million times, stay still! Painting is hard already, but drawing from memory is... harder.
- Funny considering that you have perfect memory...
- You know that its not that easy... I... I haven’t seen you since... since... for a long time – she said and took a step back to look at the whole painting – You look just as beautiful as back then...
- Thank you, you haven’t changed a day either.
Cora laughed a bit while she filled the glass with wine once again. She stepped closer to the painting to look closer, making sure that all the details are perfect. Suddenly Lya reached out for the glass in Cora’s hand, the mare was faster and managed to keep hold of the glass, though some wine splashed onto the floor.
- Are you crazy? I could have spilled it on the painting! – said Cora with anger in her voice.
- It’s poisoned.
Cora took a deep breath and had a sad sigh.
- I know. It actually makes it taste better – was her reply while she smiled and took another sip.
- Getting poisoned is funny? What if-
- You know well that I am a unicorn... poisons don’t work on me.
- Someone wants you dead –was all that Lya said, with great sadness in her voice.
- Clearly someone who has no idea how to kill me, so don’t worry! Now... please... just let me finish you.
Lya stayed silent and still, so Cora could keep working. She didn’t rest, just tried to do her best to keep painting her late mate, who died centuries ago. Hours later when she was way too tired to keep going on she noticed that she stopped drinking long ago. She sat down to a chair and leaned back, looking at the unfinished painting, looking at her beloved Lya.
- I wish you were here... I miss you so much...
Without the wine Lya did not answer, she was not there anymore, never were and that made Cora even more sad and miserable. As she poured another glass of wine she wiped off a couple of tears from her face and just sat there alone, thinking about good old times and memories of being loved.

I meant canvas sorry, I just forgot the word for it :p
After reading the story I understand now I think.
I had originally thought she was trapping a wolf into the painting by painting them "into" the canvas.
But after reading the story it seems she's just I don't know, lonely? Hallucinating? Drunk?
It's rather sad. :c
Beautiful though.
