Saw this fascinating bird hybrid in a reprint of the 24 May 1914 Terrors of the Tiny Tads, Gustave Verbeek's design in bodyweird shapes. The comic strip's reprinted at https://www.gocomics.com/upside-dow.....eek/2021/06/07 although, uh, there's a cannibal joke in there. Anyway, whatever else you can say about Verbeek, he knows how to put together a strange body plan. I was surprised in copying this to realize just how you could drop that kid in any 1970s childrens book or Rankin/Bass cartoon and have him fit in.
