Jack and Jeff Joltson happened to be one of many recruits who joined the MALAKAS Project, but what made the two the oddest was that they were born as two torsos attached to the waist, like a bamboo sliced midway with its cut upper halves now distant from each other. Consequently, they barely had space between each other but they could get a chance to even cheat on tests. They hailed from Manchester, United Kingdom, where they resided a block away from their two-headed friend Ella and Sophia Clementine, because apparently Manchester was one of the cities in the British Isles to have a sizable population of conjoined citizens.

Ever relaxed yet hardworking, Jack and Jeff had long been working in the city junkyard, salvaging junk and crashing cars for cash. Despite living in a low-quality apartment, they had a decent, middle-class quality of life. A week before Ella and Sophia's departure to the United States, Jack and Jeff had taken a word that the two-headed cat was preparing to join the MALAKAS Project right in Santo Tomas in California, much to the dogs' excitement as they had recently watched the TV commercial via their mobile phone. They also supported Ella and Sophia's decision to go to US in hopes for better benefits. However, they could not catch up to Ella and Sophia due to being the only ones quick enough to deal with the recent surge of old and useless cars to be crashed. That lasted less than a month, which gave Jack and Jeff a large load of money, allowing them to travel to the US to join the MALAKAS Project.

As they had reached the mountain base where the Project took place, they immediately recognized the blue jackal wearing a light blue dress and a metal headstrap, Vani Miller, despite obvious changes in her body. Vani had recently arrived at the mountain base, hoping to look for other recruits to train, despite the base having receiving very few of them. Assuming her two-torsoed-fellow to be wanting to become a bodybuilder like her, Vani showed off her poses to Jack and Jeff and bragged about her outcomes following the Project, much to their excitement, before dragging them into the instructor Timothy Soro, out of desire to train them by herself. Timothy made a brief observation and immediately approved her offer, and assigned Jack and Jeff to live in with Vani a private bunker.

Throughout their first training, Jack and Jeff would express their hopes of receiving advantages from the MALAKAS Project, like literally crashing cars with bare hands, or even using them to make big junk art. Having overheard them, Vani would set up punching bags, ranging from small to big and heavy, for them to practice punching with their fists in order to make them harder and stronger as they progressed. As they became Super Soldiers, they would become reckless in punching or dismantling objects. The higher-ups disapproved such behavior and demanded Jack and Jeff to be disciplined, only to be stopped by pressure from many Soldiers and Super Soldiers alike. Wilbur Wallaby and Christopher North, having watched Jack and Jeff making a reckless entertainment, suggested a little demolition derby right in an open area in the middle of a forest. With a majority vote in favor against a very small vote of opposition, the higher-ups reluctantly gave in and had set up an open area in the forest for a demoltion derby.

Jack and Jeff had their fun destroying rocks and cars for two weeks, before planning to start a week-long intense training to become Juggernauts, just to intensify some fun. Afterwards, they spent another two weeks breaking tanks and large boulders until they got bored and homesick. They decided to return home to UK, but not after assigning someone to replace them. By the time they stepped out the plane in Manchester, Jeff expressed their plans to continue working in the junkyard but Jack remarked that while it was now easier for them to crash cars, they could eventually be bored if they kept doing it. Unsure what to do, Jack and Jeff visited a bakery run by the now big Ella and Sophia. After getting challenged into an arm wrestling by the two-headed cat, Jack and Jeff asked them if there were harder physical jobs around Manchester they could take on. Ella suggested shipbuilding, and Sophia proposed demolition

A week later, the two-torsoed dog remained uncertain, still working in the junkyard, but then they were summoned by their boss, who remarked that miners who visited the junkyard were so impressed byJack and Jeff's performance (i.e. car crashing), that they wanted them make a quick tunnel in the mines so it could be easier for miners to mine resources. Jack and Jeff's boss also promised health benefits if they accepted work in the mines, in which Jack remained shocked and silent, and Jeff shrugged and said 'Eh, why not? We've got a need to try something new anyway.'
