On a scale of 0 to 10, how would you keep my intelligence after the transformation?
And how do you prefer to keep your own intelligence?
The daily sketch I did on April 30, 2021.
I wasn't sure if I should post this drawing here at first because I just wanted to ask a question on Twitter, but here it is.

I like being in the upper half, generally. Either keeping it, or at least keeping most of it. It can be fun to find myself not really able to grasp the more complex concepts anymore, like how flipping a switch makes the shiny ceiling-sun light up with fake-day or how those silly doorknob things work to make the wall open up... Just letting instincts make most of the decisions, talking with simple words and sentences (if at all), probably end up sounding a lot like a toddler. ^.^;;
This is a tough one, since losing your entire human mind is pretty tragic, more than fun or arousing. At least to me that is.
Usually I would choose a consciousness scale that fluctuates between human & beast mind over time, or affected by certain triggers in their environment & beast body. That way I can still have a a 99% bestial mind, while also still remain the 1% identity that's still my humanity, as it's just sleeping while the beast's mind is the one who's in control at a moment.
But if I were to choose for it to be a permanent position. It would be either 4-10 or just 9

10 is always fun. Like they know they transformed and are fully aware, because what's better then fooling someone with those eyes.
Let's say someone did transform into a dog and the owner let's them pick a new toy. They could ignore everything except technology, so pull in the direction of best buy/gamestop/walmart/etc. Now if they can switch back and forth well they just got a new computer or something

I'd say 8-10, with 10 being ideal. Way I see it, it's best for the victim to experience the transformation as themselves mentally, so that they can understand and (for better or for worse) appreciate what has happened to them. I'm generally not a big fan of mental transformation. Though I could see the fun of the odd animal instinct interfering a bit with that human intellect.
I would lean towards 8 to 10. The spiritual transformation would completely erase the person, which would be like killing them as well. It is better if the intelligence is preserved and expanded by the intelligence and instincts of the animal. We all don't know what animal intelligence looks like and as an animal it is better to know how the animal behaves.
If the mind is preserved, the transformation is not the end, if it was done as a punishment, keeping the human intelligence is an extra punishment, if it was done voluntarily, keeping the original intelligence is a reward.

The intelligence of animals is generally underestimated. Take as an example Alexis Devine, who over the past years has taught her dog Bunny to communicate in a completely foreign fashion to it: Bunny can now formulate mostly coherent english sentences to express itself. Or take as an example the study which showed how horses will alter their environment by digging for ground water to drink in the deserts of Arizona. Or how Caledonian crows have a better understanding of fluid dynamics than many great apes. Or many more such examples.
Many of the animals we regard as simple and instinct driven are anything but this. Thus, I personally wouldn't mind ending up towards the left end of the skala, as the canine mind can still likely process what happened to it, without having to bear the burden of more abstract concepts ^^
