Both Lucas and Shinx were among many recruits who happened to be gay, but with notable differences. Lucas Y.T. Fox seemed to be shy but proudly gay, while Shinx Quell looked confident and strong. There was nothing much to say, except that the experienced blue lion introduced Lucas to the gay community, given that the fox wanted to embrace his gayness deeper.

Hailed from Los Angeles, they were inspired by progressed appearances of volunteers such as Timothy Soro and Alex Thunder on a TV commercial, to the point of signing up for the MALAKAS Project from a military post outside the city. By the time they arrived at the mountain base for the project, they were greeted by Timothy's dingo friend Diego. Lucas shyly prefered Timothy but Diego replied he was busy with other recruits at the current time but Diego was willing to ask Timothy if Lucas and Shinx wanted to. After a short chat with the big brown fox, Diego informed Lucas and Shinx that they could start training with Timothy on October 31st much to their excitement.

As the two walked out to find Timothy, all Diego could say was 'Blimey, why would those two fellas want my bro, when there are other big hunks, like me, they could look forward to train with? Then again, they're not the only blokes who turn out to be indecisive.' Diego at the time had no recruits to directly look after, due to many instructors having already taken spots to assign available recruits in training, so the dingo had no choice but to go from one place to another to record each recruit in training.

Lucas and Shinx started training on October 31, but they tended to slack off just to admire Timothy's body. Timothy was more fond of watching recruits build muscles, than admiring those of someone else. So the slightly annoyed fox acquired assistance from another friend Wilbur Wallaby to come up with a way of making Lucas and Shinx train. Here are what Wilbur suggested: Run on a mile so the two could chase him, push against their hands with the two lying down like in a form of bench press, lie down against their backs so as to force them to do push ups, and have them lift his limbs like they were lifting barbells.

Timothy was skeptical as he thought the two could just come after any hunk they saw anyway, but the sight of the same two just hugging his body proved otherwise, even in front of the hunky wallaby. Wilbur, unsurprised, replied that he had a chat with Diego earlier, and it came to him that despite having watched the TV commercial that presented more accomplished volunteers, Lucas and Shinx still found Timothy to be most attractive. And how did Diego find out about that fact? Lucas and Shinx just straight admitted it on their first meeting with him. With those in mind and in sigh, Timothy decided to go with Wilbur's suggestions.

However, as the two evolved into Super Soldiers, their attraction shied away from their instructor, into each other, much to Timothy's surprise. Lucas admitted to him that the main reason he and Shinx were admiring the fox's body because they genuinely found him to be handsome and cute, like it was a combination of manly gayness. This left Timothy puzzled, as he found other Super Soldiers, including his own friends, to have that match, but decided to let the two believe what they wanted to define.

After they earned the Juggernaut rank, Lucas and Shinx asked Diego and Timothy to stay in the mountain base longer, promising they would personally train new recruits for the project. However, the mountain base had received very few recruits at the time. so Timothy agreed to Lucas and Shinx's terms, but in return he wanted them to recruit their friends, whether they be in gay community or not. They excitedly agreed and hugged Timothy, much to the fox's shock.
