The origin story(?) of Isaac becoming a young baker!
- - - - -
It was another bright start of a day! Isaac had bounded off his bed and slipped into his favorite causal attire for a summer’s morning: a nice green t-shirt with an old pair of baggy khaki shorts. He rubbed his eyes as he grabbed breakfast – a banana with peanut butter and a doughnut he had made the previous day – and grabbed his apron that was hanging off a kitchen chair, where he left it the previous night. As he pulled it off, the silky fabric tickled his tummy, startling him. He pulled the apron away, looking down at himself.
That was odd. His shirt seemed to have shrunk. The hem was riding up his stomach and was digging gently into his belly. He pinched the hem and moved it up, peering down at his stomach. A mound of pudge protruded out from his frame, sagging gently over his shorts.
…That was VERY peculiar. Had he gained some weight over these couple of months? He shifted his footing around a little, noticing his shirt wasn’t the only thing that was feeling off – his normally baggy shorts had a snug fit, filled up completely by his thighs.
He admitted that he may have been eating a little better – but that was to be expected when you’re working with desserts and treats. Besides, he wasn’t eating all of it – most of the stuff he made were orders from his neighbors and friends. The roo tried to remember what his typical diet was for the past month. Mostly the same as before he got the apron – fruits and bread and all the other good stuff. The only difference was that he was tasting a lot more desserts, as part of ensuring that they tasted delicious and modifying their recipes if need be. Besides that, and the occasional swiping of a cookie or doughnut, that was it.
He looked down at his gut again and shook his head. He had recently tried a new setting on his dryer, which likely meant that his clothes had shrunk. “Of course, that explains why they were so tight!” He thought to himself.
With the mystery solved, Isaac put on the apron again, feeling the cloth brush against his belly. He tried to tie the knot in the front as per usual but found at last that there wasn’t enough slack to do it. Reluctantly, he moved the strings to his back and tied a knot there. He was happy to get the uncomfortable strain off his belly by that silly string, although he still could not understand why it was an issue in the first place.
The issue would have to wait, as he started gathering the cake flour and the sugar from the cabinets. He had a whole day of baking to do, and he could not get distracted by some faulty clothing.
