An anthropomorphic fox stirred in bed, reluctant to get off the huge, fluffy mattress and heavy, warm blankets. Not even the sizzling of bacon was enough to lure him out of the warm, comfortable spot. He lay there for some time listening to the heavy rain. “Honey!” his wife called from the kitchen. “Is it not your birthday?” The fox stirred again, leaving both legs hanging over the side of their bed. He grumbled as he slowly sat up, letting the sheets fall off.
“I’ll be down there soon,” he said as loudly as he could, which was barely a grumble. He stood up and sauntered over to the bathroom to take a shower, the smell of bacon and eggs seeping into the master bedroom.
Chester’s wife, the tigress Ning, was waiting for him in the kitchen of her mansion. “Good morning dear,” she said, gesturing to a plate piled with biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, and gravy. Beside the plate was a glass full of apple juice.
“Good morning,” he replied, sounding far less groggy. “That smells wonderful,” he declared as he picked up the plate. The fox recognized the recipe from the smell alone as his own. “I already know you did a great job, dear,” Chester said, giving his wife a kiss before picking up a fork.
Over breakfast, the two discussed what they’d do for his 20th birthday; where to go, and who to hang out with, which prompted Ning to unveil her first surprise of the day: much to his delight, she’d already scheduled an event with his friends, there at the mansion! As soon as the fox finished up his breakfast and set the dishes in the sink, he declared, “Alright, let’s prepare for them to arrive!”
* * * * * *
The first arrivals, coming early in the afternoon, were the members of Chester’s band; Aileas the arctic vixen, Lehua the red fox, Karina the female ebony-furred wolf, and Kaze the grey tabby. Karina was carrying a rather large, heavy box in both arms, grinning as if she knew Chester would love it. “Happy birthday, Chester!” all four of them called out at once.
“Thank you,” the fox replied beaming, ushering them through the mansion’s double front door, and towards the dining room. “And thank you in particular for the cake, Karina!”
“You’re quite welcome,” she responded with her Southern accent. “I got something for you, too,” she added, holding out the box. “I’ll wait for a little to give you this, okay?”
Chester nodded. “So! There’s cake already served up, and I made lunch for anyone who wants it! You may serve yourselves. Also, where’s immanuel?” the fox inquired, wondering where the femboy striped skunk with inverted fur colors was.
“He couldn’t make it,” Aileas answered.
“Oh, well,” Chester said with a shrug. He turned around to see Karina and Ning had their backs turned to him, the former whispering something to the latter, who looked back at her husband and winked. This prompted him to speak up. “Am I about to get a birthday transformation, too?”
In one motion, Karina abruptly turned around and handed him the box. “Maybe, but this is somethin’ else completely!” she chimed, just in time for another knock on the door. Ning galloped over to it and opened it up, revealing the remaining five guests! These being Trev and Dominique, a German shepherd with heart-shaped black spots, and purple husky respectively, Alan the raccoon, Layan the maned lioness, and Cyrus the bat! As Ning greeted them and let them in, Karina’s grin grew as Chester tore the wrapping off the box, revealing it to be a model of an aircraft carrier! Chester’s grin did more for him than words could. “I knew you’d like it.”
“1:200 scale!?” the fox gasped. “This is gonna be huge when it’s done!”
“Oh, but there’s more!” Ning added as the second round of guests finished gathering in the dining room, some of them with a slice of the cake. “More for your person, dear,” she said, getting that smirk on her face. She stepped forward, pulling her husband into a tight hug, and he felt a certain tingle run up his spine as she did so. Ning was always taller than Chester, but he could see her appearing to become ever so slightly bigger, as did everything else. As everyone turned to look, Chester coughed as his Adam’s apple dissolved, followed by the fur on top of his scalp turning black and lengthening to reach the middle of his back before tying itself into a braid. The fox sighed as he realized what was happening, a nice bust growing on his chest as he returned the hug. Something below his - now her- waist went away as her hips and thighs pushed out, waist, arms and lower legs thinning in response. “And for good measure,” Ning stated, causing Chester’s - now Catherine’s - dress to change into a fancy dress, “there! Now you’re totally adorable.”
“You do look quite nice like that,” Trev remarked.
“Group hug?” Karina suggested, putting her arms around the tigress and vixen.
“Group hug!” Dominique chimed, adding herself to the anthros surrounding Catherine. Alan joined in next, then Lehua, and then Trev. Kaze and Aileas looked at each other, shrugged, then joined in, followed by Cyrus and Layan.
“Uh, thanks for the hugs, everyone,” Catherine said, somewhat nervous at the sudden influx of attention. “But it’s getting a little hard to breathe in here.”
