Despite being so young, Knuckles‘ baby half-brother is a lot more intuitive than others take him for. In fact, there was a deeper reasoning why the young child paid so much attention to the seemingly common bug from the beginning. Even as his mother made several frantic attempts to stomp it out, Kneecaps felt an uneasy feeling deep in his tiny tummy. Even now, as his mother was about to successfully crush the bug to death with her foot...Kneecaps came to the sudden realization that this was no bug -- it’s his older half-brother! Just as Knuckles’ shrunken body was about to be pressed on by the sole of his mother’s rustic sandal, the infant echidna sprung into action by grabbing locks of his mother’s hair and pulling on them as hard as his tiny arms could muster!
OW!! Sweetheart, no! Mommy’s hair is not a toy!
Meanwhile, Knuckles gazed with despair at the deep cracks formed on the sole of his mother’s sandal, as it came down on him so close...he could practically smell the rustic leather material it was made of! Just as death seemed imminent, Lara-Le’s gigantic foot ceased its momentum, followed by the loud yelping sound of pain, and then she retracted her foot off of Knuckles by a few centimeters. At first, Knuckles was completely dumbfounded by his sheer luck, but then he immediately took advantage of the opportunity and used his last ounce of stamina to dash towards the tall grass for cover! Once he was safe, Knuckles carefully peaked through some oversized blades of grass and saw what had occurred during the commotion; how Kneecaps came to his rescue in the nick of time. Soon enough, Lara-Le regained control of her child, but by then...the bug had disappeared from sight.
Huh? Where did it go? It must have scurried away. Oh, well.
Once she took this moment to cool off and collect her thoughts together...Lara-Le suddenly realized how irrational her behavior was over something as petty as a mere bug; even she didn’t know what came over her. The slightly embarrassed mother echidna was grateful that no one else was around to witness her bizarre outburst. Well, no one other than her youngest child who was too young to judge her, that is.
