The bell attached to a certain arctic vixen’s shop’s door rang as the red fox anthro Chester walked in. “Good day,” Aileas said, nodding to her friend.
“Good day,” he replied, looking around the magical clothes shop.
“Is there something I could help you find?”
Chester nodded. “I’m looking for a particular kind of dress; remember that ball I went to with my wife and my friend, Trev, where we were turned into princesses for a night? I’ve kind of been wanting to get something that would turn me into a queen.”
“I do remember you telling me about that. I don’t have anything of that kind in stock, though, but you could check in tomorrow. I can either get a volunteer or a custom order by then.”
A grin came to Chester’s face. “Thanks, Aileas,” he beamed as he turned to leave, waving over his shoulder. “I’ll check in tomorrow!”
By coincidence, the person he had mentioned, Trev, was just heading to the very same store, Aileas’s Attire, that Chester himself was leaving. Chester recognized the German shepherd anthro immediately when he stepped out of his car, from that medium blue jacket and red collar. “Hey, Chester!” he called out with a wave and a broad grin as he approached. “What’ve you been up to?”
“Not much, really. I was just looking for a particular kind of dress.”
Both of them were on the sidewalk now. “As in the ones we wore that one night as princesses?”
“Indeed. Funny you should mention that, when I brought it up just a minute ago with Aileas. To be clear, though, I was looking for something that would make me a queen for a while.”
“Gonna get your own kingdom?” Trev asked jokingly.
“Maybe I will,” replied Chester with a smirk. He checked his phone to see what the time was, and his tail flicked. “I’ll see you around, my wife’s waiting for me downtown. Have a nice day!” he took off at a fast walk, then, as soon as he was far enough away from anyone, teleported away with a loud snap.
Trev tilted his head, looking at the spot from which his friend vanished. “But, we’re already downtown…?”

“A queen for a short while, hmm?” Ning, Chester’s tigress wife, said as he clung to her. She looked down at him, being a bit taller than him, nonchalantly brushing some of ehr long, white hair off her shoulder. “Too bad I won’t be able to rule alongside you.”
“What do you mean?” He looked back up at her, then back towards the road they were walking over. “Do you have something to attend to in a different universe?”
“I’m afraid so, dear. I only have a couple hours before I must go.” She lowered her head slightly, and Chester perked up for a quick kiss, then he let go. “Unfortunately, I must head back home now and prepare. I wish you luck.”
“I’ll see you when you return, Ning,” Chester said, looking into her eyes until she abruptly disappeared, having teleported herself back home. “Here we go,” Chester sighed as he turned the corner on the quiet street, bringing Aileas’s Attire into view, where the dress and its enchantments were waiting. Just a couple minutes later, the automatic doors slid apart as he stepped through the entrance. Off to his right, Aileas looked up from the counter in the small store, and grinned before coming out from behind it.
“Your order is ready in the back,” she told him, turning to lead him to the back of the store. “You’re going to love the design. Even got a crown made for you.” She pushed a door to the storage and flicked the lights on. Freshly cleaned and hanging from the rack was a custom-made, enchanted dress with puffed sleeves, adorned with emeralds and topazes. The crown itself was platinum, decorated in ruby, sapphire, emerald, and topaz.
“It’s wonderful,” he said. “What’s the price?”
“Six hundred dollars. Sorry, but that was as low as I could get it without sacrificing its quality.”
Chester shrugged. “A fair price.”

With the dress and crown in his arms, Chester ran inside with a giddy smile. Slamming his house’s door shut behind him in his excitement, he ran up to his bedroom, where he had a full-length mirror, set the crown on his drawing desk, and immediately set about putting the dress on over his clothes, Aileas having informed him that they’d change to become a part of the outfit once the spells kicked in. His smile became broader as the soft fabrics slid over him, momentarily blocking his view. With his arms poked through the sleeves, shoulders shrinking and narrowing to fit, white silk gloves that reached his elbows having formed over them at some point, and his head poked back out of the dress, he looked at himself in the mirror, finding that his face had already started to look somewhat feminine. He felt the T-shirt under the dress shrivel and contract into a good-sized bra, which was immediately filled out by a nice bust that grew into being just afterwards. He felt his waist pinch inwards as his hips and rear grew, and something between his - her - legs vanished as it morphed into its female counterpart. As his shins became thinner, his underwear changed to better suit his changing figure, and his pants turned into petticoats to support the skirt, holding it up in a bell shape. Chester, or rather, Catherine, sighed as her arms thinned out and Adam’s apple dissolved, raising the pitch of her voice. Finally, she reached for the crown and put it on, then stepped back and admired herself. Soon after, she heard something on the floor buzzing. She stepped aside, finding her phone laying on the floor. She figured it simply fell out of her pants when they were being altered. She reached down and picked it up, seeing that she’d received a message from Aileas.
“How’s it going, your highness?” the message read, clearly teasing.
Catherine typed back, “wonderfully. I’ll be sure to send you pictures. Thank you.”
Aileas typed back, “You’re welcome. I have to get back to work now. Talk to you later.”

“It’s wonderful,” Catherine’s other red fox friend, Lehua, stated. “Aileas does amazing work.”
“Indeed she does,” Catherine replied, grinning. The two were taking a walk through Ning’s large garden, to which she had been entrusted to look after. Catherine stopped by the enormous pool in the center, and looked down into it, watching the kelp forest and aquatic animals within. After a minute or so, she looked up, first towards Ning’s Victorian-style mansion, then around the tall, white, wooden fence surrounding the garden. “I wonder if I’d be a good ruler.”
“I think so,” Lehua answered. “Maybe you should start with ruling this town,” he joked.
Catherine laughed. “Maybe I should.” She looked around again, at the two-meter high stone wall surrounding the garden. “Wait,” she said, not sure of what to say after that.
“Is something wrong?”
“Was there always a stone wall around the garden?”
“Indeed there was.” Lehua himself looked around, then back at his queen. “I think reality is being altered.”
Catherine shook her head. “Aileas can’t do that. It must be something other than the outfit she made for me.” She noticed that the mansion was starting to turn into a small castle. “Well, might as well play the part while this lasts.”
“I’ll accompany you, your highness,” Lehua replied, playing along as his own outfit changed to that of a royal guard - he even got a free spear. He followed Queen Catherine through the courtyard into the palace that overlooked her small domain.
“Find your quarters and get settled in, I guess,” Catherine said as she entered her bedroom. Lehua bowed his head and departed down the hallway. Once the door clicked shut behind her, the queen strode across the room and opened the shutters to one of her large windows, and gazed out over the stone, tile-roofed buildings of her realm. She made plans to go find Aileas and ask her about this as she took it all in. But for now, she was a queen, and she intended to be a great one at that.
