This pic is special. It's my first still life, and I wanted to get practice on various smooth glossy surfaces. But more importantly, the picture is a gift for my husband on his birthday. These objects are all important to us in some way, and the specific importance of them is known only to he and I. They are all brought to our home by him or me over the years, some very early in our relationship, and some quite recently. They range in cost from $2 yard sale finds to several hundred dollar art glass, but they are all priceless to us. Even in its way, the digital thermometer. The painting techniques I tried to draw from the Dutch masters, who kicked ass at this kind of painting.
