High Speed (Pinball): Jackpot Theme
My second take on a song from a pinball game. This time I've done the jackpot theme from the very famous 1986 pinball machine "High Speed," which was a machine of many firsts. Among the firsts it helped to make standard in pinball machines (and if it's not the first, it was certainly one of the first) to feature any sort of jackpot (and many System 11 games like High Speed have progressive jackpots that carry over from game to game until won, and then they reset), any sort of special score written when an event is triggered (in this case, getting multi-ball, and getting the jackpot), and entering your initials in if you have a high score.
"High Speed," according to creator Steve Ritchie, was inspired by a real-life story where he was driving a Porsche at 146 MPH and got busted by the police. This is why it says "146 MPH" on the machine's backglass.
Note that the original synthesizers on the machine sound a bit crude, because they were experimenting with how to do music; later System 11 games have much better sounds and much better quality in the music. Because of that, there's melody, but no harmony. All instruments are playing the same thing. The piece is for:
Piano
Electric piano
Electric guitar
Acoustic guitar
Bass guitar
Glockenspiel
Crotales
Vibraphone
Marimba
Xylophone
Drum set
Battery percussion
Hand claps
