Roads Untraveled - In Memory Of Akira7
"Recently you guys told me that sometimes good things happen to good people.
Well, I kept thinking about this and came to the conclusion that good things happen to me every day, in fact every single time that I'm writing with you.
Thanks for being there for me." - Akira7 February 9 2018
This picture is dedicated to the memory of my good friend

As I had written in the journal I posted about his passing, I wanted to draw something to honor his memory.
Thanks to other close friends of him, I was able to get insight into an idea, he had developed.
He was a fan of the Tomb Raider games and admired the natural beauty of the Ik Kil cenote located at Yucatán, Mexico.
In the description of his idea, he had detailed what kind of clothes and details his character would have and I did my best to try and do it justice.
I think he would have liked this picture.
Working on this has been equally soothing and devastating for me. One the one hand, it gave me something positive to focus on.
I could create something in memory of him that would inspire positivity and a warm feeling.
On the other hand, due to being so used to communicate with commissioners and friends I draw pictures for, the harsh reality hit me more than once.
Whenever a part of the picture was finished, I had the urge to share it with him and talk about it - only to realize that he wasn't there anymore.
It made me stop work on the picture for two days and draw something else, just so I could regain the strength to continue.
In the end, I am very happy with the final picture. I looked at photographs of the cenote to get an idea for the look of it and added ruins amidst the water, just like Akira7 had described.
Looking at it now, it makes me feel as if he is there right now - exploring unknown caves and temples, going on a long adventure. And when he returns, he would have so much to tell us.
I plan to put this picture as the center piece of my panel in this years Eurofurence art show.
People will be able to bid on it and I will donate the entire amount to this years convention charity - The Lemurs of Madagascar.
That way, not only will a part of Akira be at Eurofurence, but also the picture will help to do some good. And I'm sure he would have liked that.
Thank you all who have been so very supportive over the last few weeks.
You've really helped me come to terms with the whole situation.
And I thank all of the friends of Akira7, who have shown him love and care. He will be sorely missed.
Thank you.
"Recently one of my patients asked me:
"What's the most important thing in your life? What do you value the most?"
I answered his question with just one word:
"Friendship"." - Akira7 March 9 2018

Sorry, because my English is very bad and I just can not find the right words in English, I will comment in German.
Ruhe in Frieden.

You did complete justice with this piece Night, all the way down to the background details and outfit choice. I’m confident Akira7 would’ve been giddy as hell to see this and be humbled in knowing what your intentions are with it for the coming Eurofurence as a noble cause. He will certainly be missed, but this picture can be one of many that can carry on a piece of his spirit as a memory I like to think; and what better way then that coming from an artist being also a dear friend of his eh? :D Many thanks for sharing this with us
Requiesce in pace.
Requiesce in pace.
An astounding testament to your friendship with Akira7. A beautiful work in so many more ways than one. Your writing is just as moving as you art and I hope a lot of people show their support at Eurofurence. Certainly his memory will stand the test of time with this. Stay strong Night!
This is one of the most enchanting pictures you have ever drawn, in my opinion. You really do get the feeling of being an explorer, finding secret places and uncovering long lost relics. I'm sure that Akira would have loved this. Then he would have thanked you again and again without stopping. Akira was a beautiful soul. It's still hard to believe what happenened.
Tiger, thank you so much for this amazing drawing in his memory. Your good intentions with this picture for EF makes me want to hug you even more. <3
Akira, thank you blessing me with your friendship. I won't forget you. <3 <3 <3
This is a really awesome piece, I am pretty sure Akira would have loved it!
I just hope that everyone who knew him will keep him in good memory.
And I think that he now has the biggest adventure he could have ever wished for. After all: "Death is only the beginning of a way bigger adventure and who knows what you may find."
Rest in Peace Akira, may your journey be easy and your adventures never end!

Its kinda odd but seeing this i get a odd feeling that i dont usually get a feeling that you did something nice and that if thare is an afterlife he knows and is proud of you stay strong he would be happy i usually dont get this feeling and i dont really know him well but i think he is still somewhere happy if you need to talk or vent well you probably already know people to talk to but know im here even if i am a random stranger
Oh my gosh...this is just absolutely gorgeous and stunning (and coming from your artistic talents, that's saying something)! I think it would be amazing and impactful even without knowing the backstory, but with it...well, let's just say that despite not knowing your friend, seeing this pic made me tear up something fierce.
Auctioning it for charity is just the perfect touch on top of all the rest. You've outdone yourself, Night, and honored him greatly.

I still don't really know what to say, so sorry for the shortness of my comment.
But your picture and the commission that Rakan ordered are two great Mementos to honor Aki... and to keep his memory alive.
I mean yeah, I go about my normal life and everything.
Seeing those two pictures still stung quite a bit. But... it's a good sting. If that makes any sense to you

I have also paid my respects to him today. It's so bizarre to think that it has already been one year.
I'm happy I could create something in memory of him. It helps to know that there is a part of him, that I can always go back and look at, remembering the moments we shared.

If Only I Had Read this Post Earlier... The picture (which is sublime by the way) was familiar to me, but i was totally unaware of her background. If I had known it from the very beginning...
But now, he's one With The Force and God Knows That There Is A Lot Of Sights To See There. He won't regret his travel now in The Holy Stream. Love From France.
Adieu Akira7, and Merci Night For All Your Marvelous Pictures (This One Included).
