I like it, it's very creative! It seems it's not just bipeds that can be "infected" (though is that the correct term, since it seems to only inhabit dead bodies?) And is the personality or intelligence related to the host?

Inky-Cap doesn't inhabit dead bodies; they just liked the design of the skeleton so they formed their own body based on the shapes. They can infest and take over any kind of creature; they have their own human-like intelligence. They can certainly propagate like cordy but chooses not too because they like humans
