....the one who killed his father and took the pride, who killed his brothers and left him for dead.
The King was still strong but not as he once was, was still fast but not as, slowed by the comforts he over indulged in. And he, the nameless son of the old King, would be welcomed as much as the current king, a brutal and merciless despot, was despised. Yes, it was time. Today......

Actually, before I started these last 3 pieces, I was working on a tigress sketch for longer than it took to do all 3 (I'think I will also finish the arctic wolf piece today too). Then I thought " Maybe if I do a simple portrait, I can actually get something done". The leopard wasn't quite so simple but I did complete it in a week and the lion also. the wolf I'll have less than a week of evenings.
Anyway, the floodgates are open and I can't wait to start another. After MFF, I have 3 commissions to finish then so many things on my want to do list.
Hmm, what would You like to see me draw? Species wise, something that is in my normal range canid/feline?

You know I've done gemsbok and quit enjoyed that. And I own this Dark Natasha piece http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1971389/ which has always been an inspiration.
Yeah, maybe. :)
Cross species, hmmm, done that long ago. I do prefer to stick with a pure species. I'm boring that way.

Ugh, ain't that the truth. I really, really dislike scanning.. It always picks up things you don't want to pick up, and washes out all your amazing detail. *shakes angry fist* It's really one of those things that keeps me from doing more traditional work. Just can't create a decent digital reproduction.
I'm not really a bird guy but I do like wings and I really don't do very many "colorful" pieces, (the few I have done did sell quickly). And by chance the next piece I have lined up is winged and will have a lot of black and reds. You might call it something of a collaboration as the sketch was done by another artist of her personal character, a coyote with raven's wings and wonderfully striking red markings and fur and hair highlights. It is an older piece that I came across while perusing her gallery and it just screamed "Color Me"! So I asked her permission and she happily gave it. I will start work on it after I finish Texas Gray.
But the cardinal/snow idea did get me thinking. I live in Iowa and we do get cardinals in snow. Quite beautiful.

ooh, so many kitties and canids, hard to choose. how about hybrids with someone hooved? the love child of an "unholy marriage" maybe. and yes, curved, ridged horns are among a favourite of mine. :)
I feel like contributing to your tigress sketch portfolio one day. :)
seriously, why stay within your comfort zone? I can see why you would, wanting to spend your rare free time on somethign you're familar with, but where's the fun with that? :)

I also have a teeshirt with the girl with three sabretoothed cats, and the little vignette done by Reaper Miniatures of the mistress with winged ornaments and the big tiger cat pet/guardian...

Ultimately, the entire pride surrounds him and rejoices as the first lioness comes into heat, and he takes his prize in triumph. The proof of his maleness—as young, untested and pert as the warrior himself, prepares to both take the rightful fruit of the conquest, and deliver the seed of victory and hope...
And soon, his roar of affirmation rolls across the savannah, and offers itself to the judgement of Mother Earth and Father Sky.
So shall the endless wheel turn once again, and the Pride continue.

but he'll still have two nights and two days to go at this lioness until she's satisfied. and three more are waiting in line, who desperately fought the old pasha and his ambitions despite instincts and hormones fighting back... and there are still possible heirs. is it enough to send them to exile, or would he have to kill them to establish his position?
He certainly had sons but he didn't treat them well either, seeing them too as future rivals. No, killing them is of the old ways and the new king will let them live and even treat them as his own. If they choose to challenge him or one of his true sons in the future, so be it, that is still the way of things.
