The people in charge of their Twitter have become really sassy with their comments/replies within the last few months, and twitter user professorsugoi made anime styled illustrations of Wendy's which started making the internet go crazy with it. You can see how it all happened here: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/smug-wendys
Apparently, it began with Wendy's official Twitter account delivering a verbal punch to someone complaining about their "fresh, never frozen" stance. Long story short (the actual exchange, a tad longer), the complainer forgot that they could just refrigerate 'em.
The account would continue to make more snappy remarks, usually aimed at other fast food chains, and some DIRECTLY to their respective Twitter accounts. Some could take it and dish it out right back; others...not so much. My personal favorite was an exchange between two unrelated accounts surrounding Hardee's "4-for-$4" deal, which ended with Hardee's official Twitter account blocking Wendy's. It shouldn't be too hard to dig up, and most of the other conversations are also worth reading for the laughs.
It remains to be seen how long they can keep up the pace (the person who started the "trend" left the company last month; the exchange that started it all kicked off around 1/2/17 from a tweet on 12/30/16), though they inadvertently challenged someone to gather 18 million retweets for a year of free chicken nuggets earlier this month (someone asked what it'd take, Wendy's set the terms, and they accepted them), so one can hope.
