Some say cavalry and others claim
infantry or a fleet of long oars
is the supreme sight on the black earth.
I say it is the one you love.

One of the earliest ideas I had for Carthage was "Rhino cavalryman, on rhino cavalry" because rhino cavalry is just rad, and rhino on rhino is like oh my god double rhin-bow.
But it took time to find the right artist for this - when Cerberus_Artworks came on the scene awhile back with his classic Vallejo-esque fantasy style, I knew the time had come for the desktop background to rule them all.
I really dig the JL David color palette - the composition is like an inversion of his famous depiction of Napoleon, following in Hannibal's footsteps... In hoc rhino vinces.

I definitely agree with you ... I specifically requested something Napoleonic because im a fan of that era and i wanted to play with the famous JL David painting of Napoleon performing the same crossing, plus I dont think ive seen rhino with a mounted 19th century cuirassier.... but it was a hard choice I assure you ... the artist is clearly skilled at the traditional / medieval / fantasy genre.
Agreeing the artist did awesome work and this is very painting-like ^^ As well still if interested I admit as well that the "rhino armor" is quite nicely done, especially helmet since those tend to be tricky to work on I'd say.
